KICK-ASS Star Chloë Grace Moretz Would Be Willing To Return As Hit-Girl... Under Certain Conditions

Chloë Grace Moretz was a highlight of the first Kick-Ass and its less successful sequel, and the actress has now revealed that she would be willing to reprise the role of Hit-Girl under certain conditions.

The first Kick-Ass movie is still considered one of the best comic book adaptations of all time by many fans, but a mediocre sequel seemed to take the wind out of the aspiring franchise's sails, and it's been years since we had any updates on a potential threequel.

Back in 2018, director Matthew Vaughn was in the process of setting up a new studio, and was planning a new Kick-Ass movie as well as a solo Hit-Girl outing that would either focus on an older Mindy Macready, or flashback to her younger years growing up under the tutelage of Big Daddy. Actress Chloë Grace Moretz didn't seem too optimistic at the time, but it sounds like she may have warmed-up to the idea.

"I think it would be really fun to see where Hit-Girl goes and what she is like as an adult," Moretz told Jimmy Fallon during an appearance on The Tonight Show. "But I think it would have to be kind of perfect." Moretz went on to clarify that castmates Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and "the whole crew, across the board" would also have to be willing to return before she'd consider signing on.

The Kick-Ass comics remain very popular, but creator Mark Millar recently stated that there are no current plans for a third movie. That could change, of course, especially now that Moretz has expressed interest.

I know Mark Millar's works typically only become actually good after getting adapted, but Kick-Ass 3 was so awful that I wouldn't care to see it as a movie.

I only liked the first Kick Ass book, didn't much care for the continuations. Was excited when I heard it was being made into a movie, then I saw the costumes.... they turned Big Daddy into Batman lite, turned Hit Girl from an actual character into parody, completely destroyed everything interesting or surprising about Red Mist, and instead of making Dave a skinny nerd who constantly gets his ass handed to him and left bloodied were he not constantly getting support from actual bad asses like Red Mist and Big Daddy they instead make him some what component and he gets the girl and sleeps with her and builds muscles and he saves the day with a jet pack machine gun and rocket launcher... where in the comics we dont find out Red Mist is evil till the very end and he tortures Kick Ass, electrocutes his balls and makes him piss himself, gets beaten so hard his chair breaks and he starts fighting back but still is about to die until Hit Girl shows up to kill everyone and save him. Then the two of them go up to finish the job but Dave only shoots guy in the balls, Hit Girl literally kills everyone else. In book 1 Dave is basically a real worthless kid, incapable and way in over his head and almost dies multiple times. He isn't a hero or a bad ass like they make him in the movies.

I hated the first movie for its unnecessary and down right inferior changes. Second movie was barely finishable.

I don't care to see this version of Hit Girl again.

@ElricReturns - I enjoyed the movie for what it was but only read the comic after seeing the film and wow was the comic way more interesting. The way it created the characters, especially Dave. He was a mess and I found it to be a more accurate portrait of someone who thinks they can dive into that world, and then realistically and completely be overwhelmed and incapable.

I think the film was put through a "what will appeal to modern teens" filter.

@BlackBeltJones - they played it safe in many ways, that's for sure. Like they butchered Big Daddys character completely, who was more a Punisher type than Batman, and they didn't even get into his briefcase or his [frick]ed up situation where he basically kidnapped his daughter and ran away from his wife to live off selling his collection of vintage Marvel comics and raising his daughter to be a "superhero" and lying to her about everything. They don't do ANY of that.

Or how in the comics Red Mist is this cool edgy hero who smokes and drives a bad ass car and has cool facial hair and guns and I basically portrayed as superior to Kick Ass and capable in the field and a hero Kick Ass looks up to only to have the twist at the very end be he was the crime bosses son all along and worked Kick Ass over brutally, but in the movie he's McLovin....

I hated the movie.

This is one of those things I’d rather watch as like a 6 part streaming miniseries. Like just take Peacemaker and make it this instead

I’d love to see a Kick Ass 3… or even just a Hit Girl spin-off.
I felt like Kick Ass 2 ended on a weak note. They should go all out with ATJ and CM in a super awesome action flick like the first one but with way more brutal fight scenes with Hit Girl on a Beatrice kiddo type revenge story and she pulls Kick Ass out of retirement to accomplish whatever goal she has. Maybe McLovin kid naps her dog or something. (Wink wink to John Wick)

I think she'd be a good Gwen Stacy for Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Have her return as an adult Hit-Girl in a solo spin-off perhaps?
Wouldn't be hard or expensive to do

She could pull a good Felicia Hardy in the Spiderman movies.
