SCI FI Wire talked to Mark Millar about his involvement in the Matthew Vaughn-directed Kick-Ass adaptation and he addressed a possible sequel.



Wanted made $350 million. So that was the thing that opened the doors. I didn't expect that. For some reason I just assumed, "Oh, yeah, this will come out and do OK. If I get another movie at some point, wonderful." But what happened very quickly was that several of the titles got picked up to be made into movies. Kick-Ass. War Heroes. I'm doing American Jesus. Kick-Ass 2 is already being plotted out. We're planning it, because all the actors are quite young and we have to make it relatively quickly. So we'll definitely do that inside the next 18 to 24 months.

Personally I think this is trash and thus deserves to go exactly there, in the garbage. Honestly I don't want to see a movie about a little kid who puts on a costume and goes out murdering people even if they are bad. It's poor taste if you ask me.

But that's not exactly what kickass is about. It's about a boy who grows up reading comics and wants the world to work the way it does in comics. But things in the real world don't work like that and he starts messing up. But he learns and gets better.

Wow. Have you ever read Kick-Ass? I don't think you have. Because if you did you would know that the main character in Kick-Ass does not murder anybody. That's not what the story is about. Try actually reading something before you make a comment about it.

I don't know much about this book...but it seems strange to be preparing a sequel on an untested property. This just feels alot like the build up to the comicbook speculation boom and crash...and we know how great that was for the industry.

Um no @ Ironknight @ i ain't even looked at the game yet, any good? An as for the movie not being like the comic (WANTED), i can understand why ppl weren't that keen on it! I love WANTED even bought the Blue-ray! But i probably did love the movie coz i never got around to read the comic book, i know shame on me! If they can bring in more of the comic in WANTED 2 cool, but i don't know how that would work now with Supervillains???

Anyway, cant wait for KICK-ASS!!! ; )

I guarantee you that picture from EMPIRE has been posted on every kiddy porn site on the net by now. The Kick Ass action scene looks pretty tight though

Kick-Ass is a great comic
the art is amazing (big JRJR fan) and the writing is great
the only downside is its extreme inconsistency with coming out
in over a year we have had 6 comics come out.. it was supposed to be a monthly
and War Heroes has had like 2 issues and nothing more
i cant wait for this movie but I cant wait for the comic to continue more
it is worth checking out if you dont mind waiting forever for the story to continue
