Mark Millar Reveals THE RAID Director Was Interested In A HIT-GIRL Solo Film

While chatting with IGN, comic book writer Mark Millar revealed that at one time Gareth Evans, the director of The Raid films, had discussed a Hit-Girl spinoff film, but due to his busy schedule it never happened. Hit the jump to check it out.

Last year, Chloë Grace Moretz said she was done playing Hit-Girl. I wonder if she would change her mind if Gareth Evans, who is best known for directing the action-packed movies The Raid and The Raid 2: Berandal, helmed a Hit-Girl solo film. In a recent interview Mark Millar revealed that at one time he had discussion with Evans about such a project.

“Before Kick-Ass 2 came out we’d been talking about a Hit-Girl spin-off movie” Mark Millar told IGN. “We’d even talked to a director – we had a couple of calls with Gareth Evans, who I absolutely love. He’s an amazing director. But Gareth’s now busy. ”

Kick-Ass, Hit-Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010's irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass' (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

KICK-ASS 2 directed & written by Jeff Wadlow; based on the comic book created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.. The cast: Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Moretz, Jim Carrey, Lyndsy Fonseca, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Lindy Booth and Olga Kurkulina.

Gareth Evans should totally do a superhero movie. Maybe the Iron Fist show?

After Kick-Ass 2, I'm kind of glad they didn't do this.

Not that he would be getting his own movie, but I would love to see Evans's take on the dirtier, more frantic style of someone like Moon Knight.

If Sony owned this they would have tried to make a Kick-Ass Cinematic Universe.

Yeah after Kick-Ass 2 stumbled at the box office and critically (compared to the first) I don't see this happening, let alone Kick-Ass 3.

Wasn't Wadlow writing the film while Millar was writing the comic?

They retained a lot from it... I guess doing it side by side did not help.

Love the first Kick Ass and like the 2nd one almost as much. This would be awesome; Matthew Vaughn should make Kick Ass 3, but a Hit Girl solo movie would be awesome too.
Also does anyone recommend The Raid movies?

I don't care if it's just a solo flick or Kick-Ass 3. Just give me a third film in the franchise.

Loved kick ass 2 if you watch them back to back they are one continuous film. I dont understand the hate 2 gets yea its not as emotional and epic as the first but it still feels like a kick ass movie.

I'd like another KickAss movie if Matthew Vaughn directs and they don't follow the exact same blueprint as the last two. KickAss 2 seemed to follow all the beats of the first one. It felt recycled.
