I know I'm a little late with this, but I just saw X-Men last night. This summer, we saw the release of Marvel's X-Men: First Class, a prequel to the X-Men trilogy, Marvel's Thor and Captain America, both part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and DC's Green Lantern.

Okay, lets just get this first one over with; Green Lantern. They tried. That's about the best I can say. There were so many problems with the script, whether it be the corny way they presented some very important things (i.e. black and white flashbacks to Hal's father's death, the scene with Hal's brothers and nephew), the fact that they glossed over a lot of potentially great stuff (training with Kilowog could have been really great if it lasted more than ten minutes), the movie had a bad script. I don't feel that it was Ryan Reynolds' fault that the movie wasn't good, he did great with the script he was given, but the script sucked.

Let me just say that Thor surprised me. I'm not nearly as familiar with Marvel characters as I am with DC, so I didn't know a lot about Thor before seeing this movie. Going in, I wasn't expecting much. I was wrong. The movie was a fantastic blend of wit, action, special effects, and just a great story. The movie had its flaws, but it was still a very fun movie to see.

Next up is Captain America: The First Avenger. I'll admit that I was a little nervous about Chris Evan's ability to take on a more serious role (or at least more serious than the Human Torch), but he did one Hell of a job. The one problem I had with Captain America was that I loved Tommy Lee Jones's character, and he definitely won't be in the Avengers.

Last, but certainly not least is X-Men: First Class. It was different, but in a good way. Michael Fassbender was phenomenal as Magneto/ Erik Lensherr and Kevin Bacon wasn't half bad either (I usually can't stand Kevin Bacon). The movie's timing was perfect. The humor was well placed, and though there were action scenes, it never became too action heavy.

So here is my ranking for the top summer superhero movies this year:
1. X-Men: First Class
2. Captain America: The First Avenger
3. Thor
4. Green Lantern

Mutants are Children of the Atom.. basically its thought that the left over radiation in from the nuclear tests and explosions is one of the contributing factors in Mutants population growth.

Basically parents were getting doused with lots of excess radiation and a generation later lots and lots of mutants start appearing.

So kill the major population cent res and the remaining people on the out skirts of it all start a mutant baby boom.
