Marvel Movie Trailers - When will we see them?

With the golden year of comic book movies quickly approaching in 2011, I personally have begun to wonder about when the official trailers will start hitting theaters. Green Lantern of course has already been confirmed to be appearing before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one.

Already confirmed to be tied together.

But what about the Marvel movies? When could we start seeing the trailers for Thor and Captain America? This is the best of what I could come up with. Follow my reasoning here:

1. Disney now owns Marvel so obviously they will want to boost their own movies as much as possible, as fanboys (like me) will go to a movie just to see the trailer on the big screen.

2. From Marvel's perspective they want their trailers before movies that a lot of people will see thereby providing them the maximum exposure possible. That being the case there are a couple of movies coming out that make really good sense and would be excellent fits.

With Thor being the first movie coming out and it's release date quickly approaching (May 6, 2011)only one movie makes sense:

With Narnia being one of Disney's biggest current franchises, and the fact that it hits the right targeted age group, it is the perfect movie that makes sense to feature the trailer for Thor. Timing wise it also makes sense as it needs to come out before anything with Captain America in it so the movie can generate its own interest. Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Trader comes out December 10, 2010.

As for a Captain America trailer it is a little more of a guess as we really don't know when clips of the movie will be far enough along to make a full length trailer. My best guess is a teaser trailer will be in a December release of a movie that really is way to obvious.

Of course the movie that easilly would be the logical choice is:

Tron would be a great fit for having something with Captain America in it, of course it would also work just as well for Thor. I can't imagine both movies being tied to one movie but a full length Thor trailer and a teaser Captain America trailer would not be out of the realm of possibility. Tron comes out December 17, 2010. This is the best speculative guesses I could put together. All I know is I can't wait for next year! Let me know what you think! - GD

Sorry man, but I have to TOTALLY disagree with you here for two reasons.
Disney dumped the Narnia series after Prince Caspian due to a financial disagreement with Walden Media. Its being distributed by 20th Century Fox now.

Also, there is no way that a trailer for Cap will be ready in time to be shown before Tron. Think of how long ago Thor wrapped and we haven't seen a trailer. Why would we get one for Cap when they're still in the middle of shooting.

It's possible that we will see a trailer for Thor before Narnia, but not for the reason that you've given.

@cranburn - Just to clarify on the Narnia thing. To the best of my knowledge the problem with Disney was the distribution of the movie not the ownership. I guess we shall see. This was just my opinion, thanks for reading! - GD

@Intruder - Tangled time frame wise would make sense to me, I would just be surprised due to the target audience of the Tangled crowd. Would young girls between 5-12 be the same people running out to see Thor? I think not. However, I guess we shall see. Thanks for reading! - GD

@cranburn Joe Johnston said in a interview a few months back (Maybe a little after COmic-Con) that we would see a Capt trailer in December. Marvel was probably waiting to release the two trailers 2gether. That was the problem with Incredible Huk. MArketing wise it was overshadowed by Iron Man so it didnt make as much as expected. Having the Thor and Cap trailer back to back is a wise idea.

I don't think they'll release them on the same movie.

Tron already has two attatched trailers (Pirates 4 and Real Steel) and they don't usually attatch more than 3 (in terms of how many are actually shipped out with the film, not in terms of how many the theaters put in front of it.)

Thor WOULD seem like one to go with Tron though.
Captain America... I'd bet that goes with a big Paramount release in December, probably True Grit.

And finally, the film you left out... X-Men First Class, being a FOX movie, is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more likely to have a trailer in front of the FOX-distributed Narnia movie.

I have to say, I agree with Cranburn.
I can see Thor trailer being released soon, but not before the Narnia movie, or Tangled.

And as for Joe Johnston saying that we'll get a trailer soon, I can't see it being any more than a teaser... something like what we got for The Dark Knight.

@MaxJaybo - I agree with you about the X-Men First Class making sense with Narnia, however as far as I am aware of production the movie isn't far enough along to offer more than perhaps a teaser trailer before it. Something very small and limited. Honestly I have my doubts it is far enough along even for that. However, I love surprises!

As for Tron already having some big name trailers with it let may say this. I think Disney is banking on that being a BIG sleeper hit of the season. We are all excited about it cause lets face it, TRON was one cool movie that we all enjoyed. I think with this Tron they will hit a much bigger audience than the first one and that being the case they will load it up as much as possible.

Also remember Tron is in 3D. Same as Thor so that would also make sense as well. - GD

I'd put my money on seeing a Captain America trailer during the Super Bowl.
