Submariner, the Flash and the Dark Knight

First of all though to the Submariner news, which has many baffled and intrigued; both in equal measure. It appears that, in a recent interview with IESB, Transporter star Jason Statham mentioned he had been in a casting for Namor, the Atlantian Prince, the Submariner.

IESB: Are there any comic book characters that you’d like to play in a film?

Statham: Yeah, absolutely. That’d be another area of my wishlist. I’d love to play one, yeah.

IESB: Anyone in particular?

Statham: Let me think… It’s funny, I took a meeting for Sub-Mariner. I don’t know if I’d look right running around in a tight speedo with wings on my ankles but there’s so many cool [frick]ing characters. … You know, there’s talk of them redoing The Crow. That was a good movie with Brandon Lee, although that was years ago. So if that one comes my way, bang!

George Roush from Latino Review managed to sit down with Charles Roven, and peppered him with questions about many of his upcoming projects. In response to whether Two-Face would be in the second installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman – of which he is producer – and would he indeed be the main villain in the third;

"I just told you about my film making philosophy, Chris Nolan is so much of that, even more than I am. He is such a focused guy that he really only thinks about one thing at a time. Hes editing right now. You know, we're all very sad about what happened, but you know, right now, other than a pause to think about and give honor to Heath, we're gonna go forward and just finish the movie."

As for the Flash – a movie I am eagerly anticipating, regardless of any screw-up WB makes with the JL movie – he was even more tightlipped. But Roush did manage to get some tidbits. Some things we already knew – director is David Dobkin, the writer is Craig Wright, but they haven’t begun writing it because of the strike. No casting information, and no info on what villain would be battling the Fastest Man Alive.

But when it came to the tone of the film, Roven opened up a little bit;

"It's gonna be straight ahead and do a lot of honor to the source material. We're not going in a comedy direction. It's gonna be straight ahead action movie with a lot of character but it's not gonna necessarily be like The Dark Knight or anything, it's going to be its own thing. At least, that's what we're gonna try to do."

And for all of us Flash fans out there awaiting this movie; that is just what we wanted to hear!
