When I first started looking at comics I had already seen as a child the Superman and Star Wars movies, the Batman, Spiderman, Hulk and Wonder Woman T.V. series plus others that seemed like they could be Superheroes.

I found comics were the only place after the early eighties that I could find what I wanted, to see: more superheroes.

Then I was only touching the surface and only buying what looked "cool". So I found the X-Men in a spiderman annual (the early years) reprinted, then in England 1986 Secret Wars came out and I found the new x-men, iron man, captain America et al.

Then nothing.

After that the very first Batman film came out and I started again looking to comics.

I loved the fact that my idols were being portrayed on the screen so people would understand why I loved them. We had the first captain America film and swamp thing and by today's standard they were rubbish, but I thought they were great. Cartoons always seemed to mess up my favourites I always wanted to see them in celluloid. And so eventually we got the X-men and Spiderman films. Now there is a saying that the book is better than the film and it had run true for every Superheroes movie. But I still love them, I loved Daredevil, Fantastic Four 1&2 all the x-men, spiderman, Batman films and even enjoyed elektra and the punisher films. So my point is this: why complain?
I gave up complaining when wolverine was 6'1" in the film.
It worked.

You can't back fill 40 years of comic history or do a 1960's origin tale (though captain America seems to me to be becoming the potentially best cbm.) in a 1& half hour film and do the subject justice.

I pray for a Secret Wars movie but know it would be changed to fit this decade.
For me, to know that future generations are gonna be interested in the Comics and characters ive loved after seeing these films gives me hope. I myself think that the comic industry has become worse than the films themselves and have bastardised the characters for the sake of change.

I await with baited breath this years movies and next years and all that come and I for one cannot complain.

I still find the books better than the movies.
I'd rather read The Long Halloween than watch TDK.
I'll only get behind the movies that I think look good.

We like seeing the characters, we spend countless amounts of money on each year, have great films. We don't appreciate the characters being abused just to make money. Though people do get stupid when it comes to complaining (who cares that Oa isn't how you envisioned it, beast looks too cat but it isn't the end of the world, you're really complaing about Thor being taken down by a tazer after he has been depowered, and etc.)

We should support a WANTING for comic movies, but not support the poopoo movies made just so some company balckheart can made a quick buck from 'stupid fanboys' ie... steel, electra, catwoman, the schmocker batmans, the 90s capt america, all 3 (yes there were 3) fantastic four movies (to be fair I guess one you can't buy), superman returns, spawn, howard the duck, wolverine, ect. Fact is no matter the company, marvel, dc or independent I would rather have a few comic movies done with love and care rather than a long line of doodoo wipe movies. I want to support all comic movies but as a community of nerds, geeks and fanboys we don't need to have to put up with vomit that the producers of the forementioned flims expect us to wipe up with our hard earned money, particularly with how bad the economy is right now.

In short... no no to doo doo

By not supporting all of them, you doom the ones you like as well. The more people that dont watch or support these movies, the less they will make in the future, including ones that you would want to see. Im not saying you have to like it, but showing a solid support for the genre as a whole is good for everyone and keeps Hollywood busy trying. Id say for every 3 they make at least one is good and ill take that. Example of what i mean is that I DONT think GL looks good at all, but im going to go see it anyway to support CBMs in general.

I think all the movies coming out look good to their own right, xmen will be a rental and I may pass on transformers all together, but I wont go to one I don't want to see or one that looks horrible. Comic movies aren't 'endangered' when one comes out I know of plenty of non comic fans who'll go and see them. Thing is, hollywood needs to quit with the bad ones, the ones that feel more like a slap in the face rather than entertainment. Think about the budget for the bad movies too, that's a lot of wasted money and guys like owe bull (probly screwed up his name) laugh at the fact that some poor fella just wasted their time and money hoping to watch their 'geek' thing, just play house of the dead then go watch the movie if you can't take my word for it. Stupid horrible movies are there just to make waste. I could go on about this all day but fact is that as long as people are willing to pay to see movies like steel or electra those stupid movies will keep being made. I can't wait for gl, cap or thor! I may not be excited about spidey like I would've been a few years ago but he is my youngest son's fav so of course im going to that. Xmen looks like I would be a good movie but due to all the errors in it im not going to the theaters for it, although it will do fine because plenty of non comic folks don't know how messed up it is but want to see what the trailer was all about. Transformer is meh, the sight of shia labouf alone angers me, I can't help that lol

Why would I go spend my money on a movie that I think looks terrible? I refuse to do that and so should everyone else. Even if its a CBM. The only thing that does is encourages mediocre and outright terrible films to continue to get made.

Just look at Ghost Rider. In my opinion, that is the worst modern CBM yet. But you know what? Enough people went and saw it on opening weekend that they were already talking about a sequel the very next week. Thats what happens when you support crap.
