The moment of truth is nearly upon us. Will there be a Ghostbusters 3? As of now nothing is official, as Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman are sure to remind anxious Ghostbusters fans.

For months now writers from NBC's "The Office" have been hard at work developing a script worthy enough to be the third movie, and have just recently handed the draft to Aykroyd.

Mr. "Ray Stantz" had this to say to the Baltimore Press:

"I’m going to see the script in the next few hours, I’m about to read the third script, I’ve been submitted it and we’ll see what happens."

So there you have it. The script is being analyzed, The cast (including Bill Murray) have all said they'd be interested in doing a third movie...now we wait for the judgement.

These are indeed tense times for ghostheads. No word from Aykroyd and company yet, but you can bet if it gets the greenlight, the news will be bigger than a Class 7 Outsider Avatar...I mean the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Oh and yeah, bustin' makes me feel good.

It wont be the same. The ghostbusters films were 80's classics and should stay that way. I hate when movies take like 20 years to get a sequel, they almost always suck.

Patrick Swayze made his movies a blockbuster. Condolence to his family. Swayze died also because of pancreatic cancer.Patrick Swayze, victim of pancreatic cancer who had just passed away after giving word that his cancer had spread to his liver and that what his doctors told him to countdown to the end. The actor preferred to discontinue taking painkilling drugs while he was making up for his movie "The Beast". Patrick Swayze has been a greatful icon of the entertainment industry, he was that hunky actor who danced his way into moviegoers' hearts with "Dirty Dancing" and then broke them with "Ghost" died after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 57. Death of Patrick really made some sad and bother about it.Family of him, even theyre with enough money spent for the medical treatments of Swayze might ask for emergency help financially. We hope that there would be Patrick Swayze again in entertainment industry .

THERE ARE SEVERAL POSSIBLE WAYS THEY MAY DO THIS--1. OLD GHOSTBUSTERS COMING OUT OF RETIREMENT TO SAVE THE CITY FROM SUPERNATURAL HAPPENINGS THAT ENDANGER EVERYONE.--2. GHOSTBUSTERS HAVE CHILDREN THAT THEY TRAIN,THAT WHEN THE CITY NEEDS THE GHOSTBUSTERS ITS UP TO THE GHOSTBUSTERS KIDS TO SAVE THE DAY--3.THE GHOSTBUSTERS ALL GET KILLED AND ITS UP TO THEIR KIDS TO LEARN HOW AND THEN PERFORM TO SAVE THE CITY.

I think it should be a CGI movie so the original cast can remain and not look old. As far as the movies are concerned I don't want to see anyone other than the original cast and an animated movie would bring in a younger audience. Something for the old and the new, and it wouldn't have to bee too watered down. Shrek wasn't and neither was GB1 or GB2 and they pleased all ages.

I think a third movie would be great. But it would really make it authentic if they did all of the effects old school style. Puppets, miniatures, the works. I think that's one reason Indiana Jones 4 didn't do it for me. Everything just got too ridiculous. Keep it basic, funny. The excitement will take care of itself.

Annie Potts will reprise her role as the secretary, show up, tell Egon they had a son that he didn't know about, and the son will be played by Shia LeBouf.

Denn1s, you might either be thinking of the cartoon seasons or the video game.

That video game was indeed the bomb diggity.

I can't wait anymore...it's been to long! They should have come out with another sequel years ago, but at least they're trying to make another one. Just hope they don't follow the "Ghostbusters go to hell" script, sounds dumb, Give me ghosts, or give me Death! I have the theme song on my i-pod and when I listen to it I bob my head and start going crazy, dancing to the music, it's just so awseome to listen to.

OKlan- why are you going on about Patrick Swayze on a Ghostbusters thread? To be honest I thought he was already dead, or maybe I was just thinking of his career. Oh well I get confused sometimes.

oh come old guys coming back out of retirement is great stuff. Just think die hard, he's always too old for this crap and he always has a head ache. And as flawed as it was the best parts of the crystal skull were when indy's age is used, "I thought you were a professor?" "part time" and "We were younger back then" are classic indy moments. Give me a ghost busters movie like that and stay away from a passing the torch movie.

I CANT WAIT!!! It should be awesome. The best way to go for this movie is to have the original Ghostbusters realise they are too old for the job and they attempt to recruit new Ghostbusters BUT have this movie focus on the original Ghostbusters most of all. The new Ghostbusters could just be sidekicks who help out but the movie should not focus on. Then a new trilogy can completely focus on the new Ghostbusters

LOL. Edging? It's been 20 years since the last one. That’s not edging, that glacial recession. That's an ice age ending. That's three presidents ago. That's my lifetime minus 12. That's 140 dog years. That’s five generations of ferrets. That's Jim Lee's career. That's two dogs and four cats ago (for me). That's... a long [frick]in' time.

@nerosday lol

Still CAN POSSIBLY be great...

Last news on this I heard is that it's supposed to be the old guys teaching the young guys. And most of you guys wanted to see all the old cast, but didn't think Ernie Hudson would make the grade.

So who'd you guys have up for casting? uh it seems obvious and apparent Steve Carell... then Seth Rogen right? and Jack Black maybe?

After I Love You Man, I'm gonna have to go with Paul Rudd over Jack Black. But I dunno, his Ghostbusters in Be Kind Rewind was pretty damn hilarious.
