John Williams On Board To Score READY PLAYER ONE, INDIANA JONES 5, & Possibly STAR WARS Episodes VIII & IX

5x Academy Award-winning composer John Williams has confirmed that he'll be reuniting with longtime collaborator Steven Spielberg for his next two projects - Ready Player One and Indiana Jones 5.

Last Thursday, the incomparable John Williams, whose illustrious line of credits include Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Superman, Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., and countless more, was honored with the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award, becoming the first composer in the award's 44-year history to receive the award. His longtime friend and frequent collaborator Steven Spielberg presented the award to Williams at a gala in his honor on Thursday night, held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

While health issues have been a concern in recent years, it doesn't sound like Williams plans on slowing down any time soon. In a recent interview with Variety, Williams confirmed that he'll start work on Spielberg's next - Ready Player One - in November and then hopes to start work on the next Star Wars sequel if he's able to: “If I can do it, I certainly will. I told Kathy Kennedy I’m happy to do it, but the real reason is, I didn’t want anybody else writing music for Daisy Ridley.” Also, whilte not a guarantee, it sounds like he'll more than likely be back for Star Wars: Episode IX as well.

Additionally, ahead of the gala, Spielberg was fairly candid regarding future collaborations with Williams and when asked by Entertainment Tonight about whether or not Williams would return for the fifth Indiana Jones installment, after having scored the previous four films, the Academy Award-winning director almost instinctively replied: "John Williams will come back and score." That sequel is slated for a July 19, 2019 release date and will also feature the return of Harrison Ford as the titular archaeologist.

If I was over 80, no matter how much money I had, I would be sitting in a chair all day watching The Avengers 69 and playing virtual reality games.

No matter my job in my life, I'd be doing that. Props to John Williams, dude is still kicking ass.
