Fans of Dean Koontz' famous phantasm fightin' fry cook will be thrilled to learn that a trailer for the Odd Thomas movie has finally been released. The trailer has actually been online for over a month now but there has not been a whole lot of hullabaloo surrounding the release of the film and there's a reason for that.
Let's take a look at the action packed trailer and enjoy it in all its spooky splendor; then, prepare to be sad.
Now the bad news: it seems that there are no plans to release this movie. All of the Odd-heads out there who have been dying to watch Anton Yelchin's turn as the titular spirit-spying hero will be crushed to learn that the movie is tied up in legal and financial gridlock. According to the Hollywood Reporter website, the producers of the film are suing some allegedly deadbeat financiers for not shelling out promised dough. Hollywood Reporter "Odd Thomas" is directed by Stephen Sommers, famed director of G.I. Joe and those Mummy movies. The film stars Anton Yelchin as Odd Thomas, a 20-something resident of Pico Mundo California with a propensity for flipping pancakes and seeing dead folks. The flick's supporting cast includes Willem Dafoe as noble Sheriff Wyatt Porter, Patton Oswalt as Odd's portly pal Ozzie P. Boone, and Addison Timlin as lovely love interest Stormy Llewllyn. Dean Koontz The trailer looks fantastic. Here's hoping the producers will be able to resolve any legal issues and get this movie into theaters. The books are pretty great and the movie looks like a lot of fun. It would be a real shame for this one to give the big screen a miss and wind up going straight to video.
