Fox Pulls Scene From THE PREDATOR After Shane Black Hired Sex Offender To Shoot A Scene With Olivia Munn

Just days before the final cut of The Predator was due to be turned in, 20th Century Fox learned that writer and director Shane Black had hired actor Steven Wilder Striegel to shoot a scene alongside Olivia Munn in which he repeatedly hits on her character. What's the big deal? Well, he's a registered sex offender - a fact Black was aware of and one he willingly chose not to notify the studio or cast about.

A longtime friend of Black's,
Striegel pleaded guilty in 2010 after being accused of attempting to lure a 14-year-old girl into a sexual relationship online. Munn learned of his past on August 15th and notified the studio. To their credit, they took immediate action and decided to remove the scene from the film.

Surprisingly, Black has previously managed to sneak his friend into both Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys. "I personally chose to help a friend," Black explains. "I can understand others might disapprove, as his conviction was on a sensitive charge and not to be taken lightly." The filmmaker later went on to say that Striegel was actually "caught up in a bad situation versus something lecherous."

In a statement of her own, Munn has said that she finds it "both surprising and unsettling that Shane Black, our director, did not share this information to the cast, crew, or Fox Studios prior to, during, or after production. However, I am relieved that when Fox did receive the information the studio took appropriate action by deleting the scene featuring Wilder to release of the film," she adds.

This isn't quite a PR nightmare for Fox but it doesn't reflect well on Black and his decision to include a registered sex offender in one of his movies is bound to have a negative impact on his career, especially in the midst of the #MeToo movement. Don't expect this cut scene to end up on the Blu-ray either!

@OmegaDaGrodd - I mean people can be forgiven...right? If they lay low and stopped doing stupid shit, shouldn't they get another chance?

Not defending the actor because he did do some [frick]ed up shit but it just seems like all the actresses in hollywood are out to murder the actors.

@mastakilla39 - I wonder if the parents of the victim has forgiven the sex offender?

Also yes totally seems like every actress is out to murder the actors. Every. Single. Actress.

Jesus Christ.

@OmegaDaGrodd - and this movie will still be absolute crap.

@mastakilla39 - To me, it isn't even about giving a convict another chance. It's about shoehorning some kind of hetero chemistry into a movie that isn't about human romance whatsoever. Action movies need to stop conflating sex with plot.

Now if they could give this dude a role that actually participates in the story being told, I wouldn't mind. Just make sure there are no schools involved.

@mastakilla39 -
"seems like all the actresses in hollywood are out to murder the actors"

that is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard. Olivia did 100% the right thing here. You have a fricking pedophile secretly on set with a kid or mulitple, if people bring theirs to the set...and this man tried to have a fling with a 14 year old girl. He does not deserve a second chance acting in a big time movie, even if limited. Go work at McDonalds or some shit.

@Argetlam22 - Why the venom specifically for 'hetero' chemistry? Is the issue that there's romantic chemistry in an action movie, or that its hetero? If only the former, why conflate the two?

@Argetlam22 - What are you going on about? First off, it's likely you haven't seen the movie so–scene or no scrne–you don't know how it would fit into the overall movie. The ‘showhorning some kind of Herero chemistry’ line is just too dumb to event comment on and you can't say it's conflating sex with plot because –as I have already noted, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE.

@Kozmik - @OptionFour - I guess we will never know now, but my money is on a forgettable scene where a creepy guy fails at flirting because the plot needs to communicate how venom is the anti hero this city deserves. A little bit like that dude who shot Vanessa in Deadpool 2 but less relevant to the plot. Again, we will never know.

Also try being a little less triggered next time. Thx.

@Argetlam22 - Doesn't address what I said. And it was a simple question. I'm not 'triggered', I just asked you something. Calm down.

If you can't answer my question that's fine; just say that.

All the people who were upset about Gunn's tweets still lining up to support a film with an actual sex offender in it.

@aflynn - LOL! Is the Sex Offender still in the movie?

@JoeMomma29

No, he was removed. Apparently he was one of the Manadarin's guards in Iron Man 3 and he also had a role in The Nice Guys.

@JoeMomma29 - Well according to everyone if someone claims you have had conversations with a pedophile, and hung out with a pedophile, then you're a pedophile so to answer your question then yes Shane Black is still attached to the movie.

@Reeds2Much - LOL! I assume you are referring to Gunn and his association of convicted pedos in the past.

Look Gunn is not guilty of a crime, just guilty of bad taste and stupid behavior that does raise some red flags.

Reeds2Much - 9/6/2018, 9:01 AM
@JoeMomma29 - Oh, now he isn't guilty?
JoeMomma29
JoeMomma29 - 9/6/2018, 9:07 AM
@Reeds2Much - No he is not guilty because he has not been tried and found guilty by his peers.

Now is he guilty by association? Yeah, and his behavior has many red flags raised. What he did was gross and he got fired for it.
