PREDATOR 5 Producer Confirms The Movie's Title; Believes It Will Be "As Good" As The Original

There's still a lot we don't know about the planned fifth Predator movie, but producers John Davis and John Fox have now shared some intriguing new details, while confirming the prequel's title.

We found out last year that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg would take the helm of a new Predator movie, and producers John Davis and John Fox have now shared some new details during an interview with Collider.

In addition to confirming that this installment will take place before the events of the original, Davis officially announced that the movie will be titled "Skull," and promised that the premise will take things back to basics.

"It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work. It's the ingenuity of a human being who won't give up, who's able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force."

"I feel like the first one was a wonderful, interesting movie and I know what worked about it," he continued. "I feel like we kind of never got back there again. We ended up in different places. I think this is a worthy complement to the first one. It's going to be as good."

"It actually has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon. You'll know what I mean once you see it," added Fox.

We do now that the protagonist will be female this time ("a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior"), and it was recently reported that Legion actress Amber Midthunder had been cast in the role. We're still awaiting confirmation, however.

Shane Black's underwhelming 2018 effort, The Predator, seemed to put the sci-fi action film series to rest for a while, but it looks like the now Disney-owned studio is determined to breath new life into the franchise. The script is being written by Patrick Aison, whose producer/writer credits include Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone.

The first - and by far the best - Predator movie came out back in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a group of mercenaries who find themselves hunted by a merciless alien creature. Of the three movies that followed, only Nimród Antal's Predators (2010) really came close to matching the visceral thrills of the original.

It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work.

Cheesy one liners and testosterone infused Home Alone skits?

Keep forgetting that they're making this, but then every time I read the premise and think by myself that it does sound atleast worth remembering. It has my interest

The last one was appalling. Hollywood I am not interested. You have lost your way, you make films from a set of instructions now whilst seeing anything slightly original as too risky. Go make F&F15, Jurassic Park 9 and leave me alone to wallow in the 80s where music and film were original.

Will never be as good as the original,it's the Hollywood way, take everything you liked or loved from the originals and change it because you have boxes to tick and you need to pat yourself on the back.

Here's a novel idea, how about people hunted by what they think is a Predator, reveal it to be a human who was found by a Predator as a baby and raised as one by a clan of Predators and turned into a BMF. Then you have the team (for dramatic purposes led by the Hunter's actual father or mother) trying to convince them to help them fight the real Predator who the Hunter has known as their parent their whole life.

@BobGarlen - something like that could work. Or how about reversing the roles - people hunting the Predator? Make him somewhat a protagonist... "The Predator" played with that idea a little bit (and failed).

@BobGarlen - This is actually a cool idea.

I didn't watch the last one because of the reviews, and the trailers didn't do anything to sell me on it.
I loved the original since I was a kid, enjoyed the sequel with Danny Glover and the AvP movies.
I also quite like Predators with Adrien Bordy. If this one is at least as good as that, I'll take it.

Stop trying make Predator, (Aliens, Terminator) happen.
It's not gonna happen.

@Feralwookiee - Aliens and Predator are happening though. And they can't seem to stop making Terminator happen, regardless of how bad they have been since Terminator 3.

@CorndogBurglar - They are being produced...but they aint "happening".

None of these franchises were ever intended TO BE franchises and it just doesn't work imo.

You've got the first 2 Alien movies, which are very good, and same with Terminator, and the first Predator is pretty good...but that's it.
Yet, they keep pumping out sequels to these movies every few years and they've all been stinkers. Just typical modern Hollywood beating a dead horse imo.
