Aronofsky Still Onboard For Robocop Remake

Is Darren Aronofsky still doing the cyborg remake?

Amidst earlier rumors about Darren Aronofsky potentially leaving or Alan Smithe-ing his "Robocop" Remake project, Joblo.com reportedly talked to several credible sources that verified those rumors are false. Aronofsky is reportedly satified with the production, but just pissed off at everyone that keeps asking him about it. Thus, it seems like he does not want to do the project anymore, but he said "Bump that! I wanna get PAID!" (Not Really)

You may recongnize Darren Aronofsky as the Director with the hard to pronounce last name, the Director of the movie I never saw titled "The Fountain", or the Director of the film I used to skip school and kill brain cells while watching titled "Requiem For A Dream". Aronofsky also Directed the recently released film "The Wrestler" inwhich marked a comeback for tough guy actor Mickey Rourke where he plays an ugly, washed up David Lee Roth looking wrestler, and it looks like this movie will make me sad...:(

That's ok though, I love tear jerkers!

He is also the lucky mofo banging Rachel Weisz! What reporters should be asking him is if his Baby Mama is going to be playing Catwoman anytime soon! But, as far as the general Hollywood public can tell, "Robocop" is still on, just don't ask him about it in an interview! I'm sure Burger King is gearing up for Kid's Meal Toys, and Hane's is developing new and improved "Robocop" whitie tighties as we speak.

While I want to see The Wrestler, I must say it appears to be little more then taking Beyond The Mat and making a screenplay from that and calling it his own.

Beyond The Mat is amazing.

I never saw Beyond The Mat. That came out after my wrestling fan days. The Wrestler looks like a good rental. This is off subject, but man...Burn After Reading is an awesome movie...Lol! Just had to throw that out there!

Wanna see The Wrestler and i don't mind looking forward to a "remake" of Robocop however, the original will always remain as a comfort classic as well as a masterpiece! (Just like Tim Burton's Batman)

The Wrestler is a great character piece and if they were smart, they probably got at least some of their info from "Beyond the Mat". It seemed like The Wrestler was as much a statement on aging celebrities in general as it was on wrestlers in particular, though. Definitely check it out; wrestling fan or no. Aronofsky doing Robocop? In our present state of countless remakes and reboots...why not? Someone was going to do it eventually. Better him than some no talent, no name, easily paid off newcomer. I’m actually pretty psyched to see what dark inner voices he can bring to the Verhoeven bullet-drenched classic. I'll buy that for a dollar.

Perfect example here is Brandon Lee in the crow. His performance was stellar and will never be forgotten. And Norrington is the best pick to make the reboot. Nothing will ever take away from the original. Ledger surprised everybody with a monumental performance as joker but we will never forget Jack Nicholson's version! IT'S JACK WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!!! HE IS JOKER!!! There is more than enough room for appreciation on both movies.

I think remakes for those movies will be a little farther out, it WILL happen but I think it will take a little more time as Hollywood seems to be stuck on the reboot and restart kick right now and I can see it going for at least three to four more years.

You all seem to forget that Star Wars... has already been sort of remade. They enhanced it, using modern day special FX. Although not a complete remake, they did rerelease them and modified them.

DrFever, a few years ago Hollywood decided to remake cult horror movies (House of Wax, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hills Have Eyes) now they seem to have gone upstream to bigger franchises like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. I have alwasy seen horror as a sort of testing ground for "ideas" to apply to other franchises. I do agree with saintc they will remake those, (maybe his Star Wars date is off, I think it will be 15-20 yeasr) it will be just a matter of time, but it will happen.

i love the original because as well as the insane gor and action, it was also a scathing satire. i wonder how aronofsky will handle those elements. he is one of my favourite directors. i love all of his films and the wrestler is a masterpiece imo
