ROBOCOP Blu-ray Cover And Special Features Revealed

the cover has been available for a long time. that said the image really confuses me. it also suggests some kind of robot Apocalypse with the robots in the middle of a war torn wasteland. nothing like that in the movie. false advertising. it reads more like a terminator cover. remove robocops face and put john connors head there.

I ACTUALLY LIKE THE FILM..BUT IF YOU TOLD ME WICH ONE WAS BETTER OLD OR NEW..I'D SAY OLD ONE THOUGH BUT THE NEW ONE WAS COOL.

Hated the original... Still want to see this. The effects looked good in the trailers, and some of the reviews were glowing.

I love this movie. I'm buying it.

The cover is hot though. Nice! Solid film. Not great but good. Sequel should be better. Kinnaman a Greta actor and Oldman too. Good cast to bring back

Was this better than Dredd? I liked Dredd but I can't see myself liking this one.

Movie was alright, felt like a big waste of time watching, though. One of the better remakes...but thats not saying much.

Everyone saying that they don't think that they will check it out really should. It was nothing exceptional, but as far as a good way to kill 2 hours, this is a good entertaining movie. But maybe I'm just alone in that opinion.

Ok remake, pretty forgettable movie though

My gripes with this flick:

1) The villain was lifeless and thus the confrontation with that villain was meaningless
2)We weren't really shown that future Detroit was a crime infested city - in fact it looked better than present Detroit. Thus the need for Robocop was unclear. In the original the guys who killed Murphy exemplified how bad things were and why Robocop was needed.
3)No enough time spent on Robocop actually stopping crime. And when he did it was some generic guy running an "operation" in a warehouse. In the original, Robocop stopped more visceral crimes (in progress) - an attempted robbery of a mom and pop joint and an attempted rape. There was an emotional connection to those crimes and thus a sense of satisfaction when Robo stopped them.
4) The motivation of Michael Keaton and his crew was weak at best. The board of OCP in the original clear cut and more believable
5) The relationship between Murphy and Lewis was nonexistant.
6) The crooked Police Captain was unnecessary

My likes:
1) Dr. Gary Oldman. The expansion of the role of the scientist that created Robo was a good addition
2) Showing how little of Murphy actually remained was a great touch. It really painted a hopeless picture
3) The role of robots in war was also done very well
4) While the role of the wife was generic it was still good to see the family more involved in the story
5) The way Robocop tracked criminals was awesome (we just needed more of that)
3) The progression of Robocop's transformation from a thinking person to a machine was well done

I'll be getting this.

Way better movie than the original despite not being a campy, over the top violent satire. This flick takes the concept more seriously, the original is better for laughs and cheese. If gung ho violence like Dredd is your thing, then this movie has nothing for you. If you value story content over buckets of blood then give it a shot.

Does it warrant a sequel, hell yes that's the whole reason it was made but these are the numbers that count..

Robocop (2014) - Box office = $241,617,005 (Budget $100 million)
Dredd (2012) - Box office = $35,626,525 (Budget $50 million)

This is why one has a high chance of a sequel while the other is still throwing itself on the mercy of the court begging for a stay of execution. Clearly Robocop had a higher budget but it made practically 140% profit while Dredd made near enough a %30 loss. Sure fanboys will moan but the fact is there's little money in overly violent movies. Out of the top 100 movies worldwide at the box office only two (TWO) are not PG-13 and they rank number 83 and 92 respectively on the charts, miles outside the top 10 let alone top 50.

Incase you really need to know, those movies are The Passion of Christ and The Hangover part 2. One gets the vote of the christians and the other an outrageous comedy, not a shoot-em up blood bath between them. So you can understand why studio's are reluctant to throw money after sequels for movies like Dredd unless its can do so with a ridiculously small budget.

Y'know what really blows? When the DVD cover is cooler than the actual poster.
