Suffice it to say the reveal of the Robocop suit did not go over well with internet observers and Robocop enthusiasts. You'd think big studios would learn by now that it's better to release official stills before filming begins to ensure that you're first introduction to the public is in your 'Sunday best' so to speak. Still, I remain hopeful for the production and in this latest interview with the Chicago Tribune, actress Aimee Garcia sheds a bit of light on the plot of the film.

“Almost all my scenes are with Gary Oldman. It’s a dream come true. I play Kim,” said Garcia to the Tribune. “She's a scientist and her and Gary Oldman help bring Robocop to life. … She has a Ph.D from MIT and is at the forefront of robotic chemistry and physics. This takes place in 2028. She’s a prodigy handpicked by Gary Oldman’s character to work on this first of its kind experiment.

“I’ve watched more tech talks than I ever have in my life. I’ve learned so much about the brain. The technical things this girl has to say, I want to make sure I understand what each and everything is. She might be a little bit of a punk too.”

In a crime-ridden city, a fatally wounded cop returns to the force as a powerful cyborg with submerged memories haunting him.

@TheGambitFreak It actually seems like they melded Iron Man's armor with Batman's and made an actual IRONBAT!

I honestly have no issue with his suit at all. It's modern, and looks more sleek and flexible. I want like a statue, bust, or deluxe figure of it.

I am still kind of weary about this. I am not to fond of that costume hopefully they will use CGI to make the suit look shinier. His costume looks like the bastard child of Iron Man and Batman.

I'm not moaning, I just don't see the point. Same with Total Recall.

This needs more gray.
It also doesn't really need to exist.

They should have made it more silver/metallic. The monochromatic tone it has is very bland and does not come across as "robot" at all

It's because the new design is ass. It's easy to imagine how it will look with finished CG elements.

And yet a handicapped child, tho they may need some extra care and attention, are more often than not just as rewarding as a healthy child.
As someone who works with people who have disabilities, I'm not crazy about the analogy of a movie with a person who is disabled and as a parent I'm not real keen on the suggestion that a parent would love a disabled child less than a healthy one.
I don't wish to start anything, just to maybe add a bit of perspective. I truly don't mean to offend.
In keeping with your analogy tho, if the new Robocop is a disabled child, then give it a chance, it may surprise you with the things it can do. And if it doesn't then yes there's still always the old movie to watch :)

Robocop's suit is iconic. And even though it's from the 80s, it wouldn't really look outdated today.

This black suit seems like they're trying to pander to the TDK crowd, just like Arrow.

Gay.

At most of the posters on here: Really? I think it looks pretty badass! Cops wear dark clothing, it'll blend in nicely at night time, the original is outdated, this looks sleeker and more functional if he supposed to be faster! This is by no means saying the movie will be badass, just to me, in my OWN opinion, the suit looks sweet! And i'm sure, with cgi enhancements, it's going to look alot better come show-time! Also, this is a set pic. Things always look uninspired or downright shitty when you're looking at it on set. When they get done dressing it up for the finished product, I'm quite sure it'll be fine.

And, I'm a huge fan of the original. One of the reasons I became a cop was because of THAT movie! I have Kurtwood Smith's personalized autograph as Clarence Bodiker, he was a damn good villian! And even though I love the original so much, can quote the movie word for word, even own the soundtrack (god, I hope they have something that can even match if not surpass Basil Poledouris' kick ass music! That music MADE the movie!) I realize that if this one sucks, I can always go back to my beloved original Robocop!

And above all else, to all you haters...could you do any better?

Cops actually wear bright white... well, in Tampa anyway.
And yes, give me a budget comparable to this reboot, and I could make a better movie. It wouldn't be a Robocop movie though.

CGI enhancements are over-rated. They worked great in Iron Man but are usually forgettable and flashy. You can TELL that it is rendered, so you're immediately taken out of the scene. It's part of the reason why the Lizard sucked so much.

Practical effects, on the other hand - are to be remembered. Peter Weller had a prosthetic molded to his face during the unmasking to add to the grotesque appearance. Arnold had chrome prosthetics glued to his face during T2 and they looked awesome. T3's CGI "enhancements" removed that awesomeness, and Salvation's completely rendered robots (during every action shot) killed it.

@preacher as far as suit designs go?

...I could probably do better, yes. Actually the initial designs they showed when Aronofsky was involved were great looking.

What we've seen thus far looks really..."meh". I appreciate your opinion. Mine is that the suit looks like utter shit. The design is uninspired and looks like every other "suit" you see in movies these days.

If someone posted that same photo and said "From Ironman 3 set" or "Pacific Rim set" or "Dark Knight Scrapes His Knee set" or "GI Joe 2 set" I wouldn't doubt it was for a second.

There's nothing wrong with changing things up, but if you're going to change something, improve upon it.

I'm still waiting to pass total judgement on this movie until we've got a trailer, but they have yet to impress me...

I really hope that is just one of the earlier suits he tries out.

I mean, there is just no way that could be the final suit. The suit is supposed to be black and sliver from those teaser suit renders we saw a while back.

@teabag Don't worry, I'm sure they'll eventually have the technology to make it faster, stronger, and smarter. :P

If it looks like a wrestler could body slam it, it isn't robocop. I didn't see total recall reboot, won't see this either, that way it's like it never happened. You can buy that for a dollar

Yeah, This suit is garbage.

We should be able to look at the photos with out knowing the name of the movie and tell that it is robocop.

If some one posted those images as "New Sci-Fi movie in progress" No one would even come close to thinking it was robocop.

The shit looks like The Guyver
