During the Star Trek Universe Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, fans were treated to an action-packed sneak peek clip from the upcoming final season of Star Trek: Discovery.

The clip immediately drops us in the middle of a face-off between Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Season 5's two new villains Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis). The two attempt to make their escape by detonating an explosive that sends Burham hurling out of the starship into space. Luckily, her space suit materializes around her and she hops aboard the enemy ship as it launches into warp speed. From there, we're taken on a wild ride. Check out the clip below.

Star Trek: Discovery, which first debuted back in 2017, was the first series since Enterprise and the first to stream on Paramount+. The original series serves as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Rather than serialized episodes, Discovery tends to follow a single overarching narrative each season. According to the synopsis, Season 5 "will find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well... dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it."

In addition to the clip, Paramount+ has released a featurette that looks ahead to the upcoming season, which will be the final one for Star Trek: Discovery. Check out the video below in which Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham), David Ajala (Cleavland Booker) and Blu Del Barrio (Adira Tal) share a behind-the-scenes sneak peek into the final season.

It was also revealed during the Comic-Con panel that Strange New Worlds, which is a spin-off of Discovery, will be getting a full-fledged musical episode featuring 10 original songs. A very brief trailer for the upcoming episode was shared, which you can watch here.

Worst Star Trek ever woke agenda driven nonsense.

Don't believe me even the writers/producers of the show admits to it.

@marvel72 - I don't mind woke Star Trek. Star Trek has always been woke (minus a few episodes like "Code of Honour" SNG or problematic issues with initial Uhuru portrayal).

I have a problem if the character does not have a character arc, instead his wokeness is his story arc.

OH Paramount.

Same STUDIO that fronts money to Human Trafficking piece of shit TOM CRUISE.
The WHOLE GRAND POOBAH of child labor, children getting grilled daily about their masturbation habits,
10 year old girls, sitting in chairs, while other members of the cult YELL AT THEM about how they are going to rape them and make them suck their dicks.
IN SOME BIZARRE EXERCISE meant to make them more resilient against 'negative feelings'.

What the [frick].

children working for small dollars a week, sometimes TRAPPED ON BOATS, while also being pressured to sign contracts that extend to the next BILLION YEARS.
And when wanting to leave said boat and get back to a normal life, BULLIED and GASLIGHTED. AND after attaining what one would hope was freedom, THEY KEEP CALLING YOU and reminding you about your obligations and making threatening remarks.

That is the world of TOM CRUISE. HE KNOWS ABOUT THIS WORLD.
AND HE VERY APPARENTLY SUPPORTS IT. It gets even weirder and worse the more you look into it.
Actual Criminal behavior that this cult NEEDS TO BE INDICTED on.

BUT SOMEHOW, Paramount thinks it's a decent idea to fund his movies.
LOL.

Talk about Accountability these days. Take a good hard look at this shit and tell me it makes any sense.

That looked pretty far fetched. I have not been keeping up with the newest Star Trek but that seems like a departure from the old one. Can you ride outside a ship moving at warp speed?

@ReverseFlasher - The musical episode is in Strange New Worlds, which in season one was legit Star Trek and miles better than Discovery.

A better show than most so-called Trek fans will admit to. Excellent 2nd season that introduced us to and set the stage for "The Strange New Worlds" Trek. For years before the introduction of the show I would see people ask why don't they do a Trek show that is placed in the future of "The Next Generation" timeline. Now that they have, people complain about the show. Is it perfect? Hell no. No show ever is, and I have had plenty to cringe about while viewing throughout the 4 seasons. But overall, the show ain't bad at all and is decent Trek.

@Mugens - Season 1 and 2 were decent with some great episodes. But suffers from bad plot ideas and the overarching story threads are pretty bad, especially anything connected with Burnham the Messiah. Burnham is the worst main hero of a Star Trek franchise ever. And 90% of the crew are insufferable. The best parts of Discovery are no longer there (young Spock, captain Pike, captain Gabriel Lorca and Michelle Yeoh's capt. Philippa Georgiou. From the remaining cast only Saru and Tig Notaro's character are interesting. The rest are terrible and borderline unwatchable. And sorry but season 3 is mostly poor, while season 4 is unwatchable at times. The biggest issue is that if every episode is a 'universe saving' adventure with the all powerful Messiah Burnham saving the universe, pushing the stakes after each and every season becomes boring. And Burnham never earned her status, unlike Picard or DS9's Sisko. Poorly written and insufferable character.

Finally. Make it stop. I can't bear capt. Burnham (and I actually liked the actress in Walking Dead).
