Clone Wars: Darth Maul's Return - Official Announcement

Darth Maul, the sinister Sith Lord who amped up the dark side in 1999's Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, returns to the Saga this spring in Star Wars: The Clone Wars!

Revered by fans for his striking red and black tattooed-face, graceful but lethal fighting style, and signature double-bladed lightsaber, Maul was believed killed by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of Episode I. In the Star Wars universe, however, one must never underestimate the power of the dark side!

“The decision to continue Darth Maul’s story was something that came directly from George, and we all agreed that his return needed to be unique, unexpected and revenge filled. We don’t know what his outcome will be, and as a fan - that’s exciting.”

While fans await Darth Maul's return to The Clone Wars, they'll soon be able to experience the excitement of his original introduction to the Star Wars Saga when Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace is released in theaters on February 10, 2012 in spectacular 3D!

The trailer for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace in 3D will be attached to The Three Musketeers on October 21st and on select films throughout the holidays.

This series is better than the prequels hands down........maybe Lucas should have handed over the directors reins for the movies like he has for these.

Darth Maul will always be my favorite SW character. I'll be seeing it in 3D. Remember when trailers hit for Episode I back in the day. when I first saw Darth Maul I had to guy out and buy a double bladed lightsaber.

And can't wait on his return in Clone Wars!

See, this could've all been avoided if Lucas had've just kept him alive for the prequel trilogy.

@Vermillion- Favorite star wars character? So you enjoyed his two lines and unnatural, unexplained hatred of the jedi that he was told to kill. Ah yes. such motivation, such a wonderful story arc. His personality was so interesting, wasn't it?

im thinkin in the show that obi wan and anakin and ahsoka will encounter maul and obi wan tells anakin that maul killed qui gon, which sends anakin in a rage and ahsoka steps in and while ahsoka and anakin are sqaubling, maul force pulls his lightsaber and stabs ahsoka in the back, killing her, then maul knocks obi wan out with a kick, sending anakin into a rage and anakin nearly kills maul but obi wan tells him its not the jedi way to kill a defensless enemym maul is then taken into republic custody

@zachman2013 that's not going to happen. Ahsoka will be a main character until this series ends, and that wont be any time soon since it's a major cash cow for Georgie boy. Plus what right would Obi-Wan have telling Anakin he cant kill Maul when he himself did the exact same thing?

And I think Maul will end up dying when he's done in the series, just so there's an in universe reason he doesnt appear in the original trilogy or even in episode 3.

Maul didn't have to really have a story arc in Ep. 1. He was the "blunt instrument" for Sidious. He was being used as a weapon. Don't think I'm defending this movie as a whole, though, cuz a lot of it is still unforgivable.

I'm a Star Wars fan sure, but my girlfriend knows everything that's ever happened in Star Wars, no matter what media. Besides the fact that she's pointed out how Anakin having an apprentice directly conflicts w/ the entire storyline, she pointed out to me that Darth Maul has already been resurrected w/ mechanical legs after Luke's lifetime. She was so mad when I told her about them putting Darth Maul in the Clone Wars. How could Lucas not know this? It's just an

"So you enjoyed his two lines and unnatural, unexplained hatred of the jedi that he was told to kill."

YES! Less talk more fight!

That is why he is a badass. People have forced themselves to hate anything popular just to go against the grain. There is no reason to dislike Darth Maul. He goes and follows orders. If they go into it then they take away from the main story.

Another reason for me to believe he stole the whole Star Wars idea in the 1st place.

Darth Maul is BOSS though! MFer goes hard, like Biggie!

I wish the show would step away from just being about the Clone Wars and be more along the lines of a Tales of Star Wars and give us peeks Inbetween all the movies and beyond. Kinda boreing with just this one fragment of this universe. Do an epiode on the three Tuskens who attacked Luke in Star Wars, who was Lobot, Vader hunting down the rest of the Jedi, Owen and Beru happenings on the moisture farm, and on and on.

Seriously George... if you're gonna keep riden the Star Wars pony, atleast give us episodes 7-9... quit re-vamping what you've already done it's gettin ridiculous... either give us a new trilogy or kill it.

Darth Maul has a mystery behind him, much like Boba Fett did for the original trilogy. I love his battle style, plus he just looks like the ultimate bad guy. And I loved the graphic novel Dark Horse put out quite some years ago. So, uh, yeah sorry for liking him, whoever was being a douchebag to me. :)

While at Dragon*Con last month I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Sam Witwer. He told me he would be voicing another character in Clone Wars this season and it was going to be a huge surprise but he was not allowed to say who it was. He went on to say he was driving when he got the call and almost wrecked his car when he found out who the character was. Based on that I am almost certain it is Darth Maul.
