They [frick]ed it up with the puppet in Phantom Menace. I hated the look of that thing.

looks good. CGI yoda makes sense for prequels

They made the right decision. The Yoda in The Phantom Menace looked more like a puppet than the one in the original movies! (which should NOT be changed IMO as it was fine)

the puppet in PM looks bizarre, the eyelids are too puffy, it doesn't come close to matching the empire strikes back one, I'm glad they redid it with CGI, although I detest all the other bullshit unecessary additions Lucas keeps spooging all over the OT

@TheIrishAvenger I said in my opinion, I know there classics and all but I would still like it, its not like every version would have the cg, its not like the puppet would have never existed

Do whatever you want to TPM Georgy boy. Replace Obi Wan with a [frick]ing Ewok for all I care. You wont make it any better, and you sure as hell can't make it any worse. Just don'#t touch The Original Trilogy and we wont have a problem fatso.

StrangerX - 8/24/2011, 10:35 AM
What they need to do is go back and reboot PM and focus more on Darth Maul.

Good decision. Looks so much better, and it gives the prequels a sense of continuity. When I first watched Episode I I thought "who the f*ck is this? Yoda's stoned cousin?"

Over the years, I have become convinced that Lucas is a shit filmmaker, who surrounded himself in his early career with incredibly talented people, but as his head got bigger from all the fame, he became more hands on. I mean, of course he had some great ideas, but he seems to not be able to discern the good ones from the bad ones anymore. That is why the prequels suck, that's why Crystal Skulls sucked. You can see it happening in Return of the Jedi, his people gave him more reign, they didnt correct him as much, and that is why you have way too much focus on the Ewoks, who are definitely cute, but come close to ruining the tone of the movie, which should have been so dark and intense until the end. It really is disappointing that there is no one willing to call this man on his shit anymore, because when done so, he is truly incredible, but he just needs someone to remind him that while he has a lot of good ideas, that doesn't mean all of them are...

Is Lucas going to make Episodes 7-9? Leia and Han's baby or babies, Chewbacca's death, Luke in the Vader outfit, or Ewok jedi masters?

Um, this has been available since 2005 on the ROTS DVD extra features.

it's Lucas' films he can do what he wants with them, but the CGI one looks better than the puppet.

This is considered...news? Star Wars is suffering from a slow, agonizing, and especially EMBARRASSING death.

@rlkjets130- Agreed.

Am I the only one who finds the CGI work in the new version completely lackluster? His mouth looks strange and his facial expressions don't match the inflections in his voice.

the best one is from the original trilogy. why couldnt they use the original puppet?

Too bad Nolan is already using a Bane character in his film because if Lucas wanted to get on my good side.

He would do a movie on Darth Bane, Path of Destruction and Rule of Two are great stories.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS FROM BACK THEN TO NOW MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE HE WAS OLDER OR WHO KNOWS WHAT THAT "THING" THAT MADE THE PUPPET EMOTE SO WELL...

THE PHANTOM MENACE PUPPET JUST CAME ACROSS AS A PUPPET.

Ror@ I completely agree, the abomination that was EP 1-3 can be changed all they want He just needs to stay the hell away from the original trilogy. Its bad enough he did those mid 90's rerelease with some CGI added in. He better not freakin do that again!

Tea@ That is an amazing gif LOL, love the leathal weapon! Both the movies and the one in my pants!

This looks to be pointing in the direction of complete and utter CGI editing for the films......which is awesome. It beats using petroleum jelly to blur out the image of the land speeder's wheels.

I'm hopeful but not overly optimistic about TPM undergoing some radical edits, like Spielberg did with CLOSE ENCOUNTERS' SE. If GL can turn Episode 1 into something fans are not so embarrassed to have on their shelves, he will earn back my respect and admiration. He's had over a decade to listen to the criticisms. That's plenty of time to have learned from his mistakes. ROTS and The Clone Wars series have demonstrated that he can still produce enjoyable, fun, engaging entertainment.
