Talking to
IGN Movies, the man who played the iconic villain in
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and
Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi, has spoken out about his time as the intergalactic bounty hunter and what effect Boba Fett has had on his life. Below are just a few excerpts from the lengthy interview, so be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site.
On What He Thinks About The Movies Being Released On Blu-Ray: I'm very, very excited about the Blu-ray. I'm very excited about people wanting to talk to you and ask about your experiences. Should they have done this? Should they have done that? And the lovely thing about these films is that they have a talking point all the time. And when you have fans at big conventions, you can hear them walking past, "I think they should have done this. That character should not have gone that way," all the time. So if the films are good, people will want to talk about them.
On How It Feels To Be A Part Of The Star Wars Legacy: I just still find it incredible that Boba Fett is such a popular character, considering he didn't say much. I remember saying to my agent afterwards, "We need to get some more parts where I don't speak." [Laughs.] If I'm in America I get recognized, because people see pictures in magazines. And they might come up and say, "Oh, Mr. Bulloch," they're always very polite, "great to see you here." And they just walk on. And I think, "Well how on Earth can they know who it is?" But obviously if they're looking at a magazine or an interview in some picture book or in film, they'll recognize me.
On What He Brought To The Character: I always say I fitted the costume. And if I had gone in there and I couldn't get into the costume or it was too loose or something, they'd say, "Let's get somebody else." Because looking at it, it was a part with very few lines. The costume looked terrific. So you can do something with that. You can show it through some movement or something. And I wanted to make him as deadly as possible. But lots of people could have probably got into the costume and done the same thing. But I like to think I have a slight edge. Because you have to have that confidence to go in and say I can do something with it. But other than that the costume was terrific.
On Donning The Costume Of Boba Fett For The First Time: My interview was just getting the suit on and being talked through it. [Lucas] said, "He's a bounty hunter. He's quite dangerous." He was walking around me and going, "Yep, Uh-huh. Okay. Well, welcome aboard. We'll probably see you next week." And I thought, "Well, they haven't asked me to read." So it was one of those lovely interviews that was very straightforward and welcome. You know, "See you Monday." And here we are 30 years later and still talking about it.

I have said that I'm going to ask George Lucas to do a special half-hour piece on how Boba Fett gets out of the Sarlacc pit, just an hour episode on television and Blu-ray.
