He also assures fans that Lucasfilm are still very keen on making it a reality despite the current budgetary problems (they can't get the costs down to a manageable level for television apparently) and even reveals a few new details about the direction it would take. Check out the interview in full below.

Doesn't matter what its working title is, couldn't care less how many scripts there are... the fact that they have said that the live action series will not feature jedi/sith and lightsabers and instead will focus on the quote/unquote 'lesser-known characters' - means this might end up being even less StarWarsy than the terrible prequels.

Reboot the franchise and make movies. George needs to stay far, far away.

StarWars: Underworld eh? - that working title again shows the epic fail of the concept. Concentrating not on the primary characters that shape the universe, but of the many layered and often overlooked characters of the underworld.

So instead of Jedi, Sith and notorious bounty hunters, we'll have 3-part shorts on the life of a twi-lek dancing girl, a jawa scrap dealer and the human janitor whos job it is to shovel Tauntaun shit off out of the Hoth hanger.

That's Sal Governale the Stockbroker?

Anyway, interesting news about the Star Wars live-action TV series, though the Cartoon Network series is already doing damage right now.

Not that I'm supporting this, but wouldn't the merchandising pay for the entire budget several times over? And Star Wars: Otherworlds sounds much better...

After listening to the entire video again for a second time and paying close attention to how Rick words the project, its pretty clear that this is vaporware albeit for 50 scripts they've had written.
$5,000,000 per episode target, digital sets, the (quote/unquote) 'sheer amount' of digital actors, the problems with network targeting and viewing figure expectations of said networks - we won't be seeing this for 5 years+ easy.

No, they should flesh out the epic story-arcs of Ewoks On Endor first.

Stop beating this [frick]ing dead horse with a stick. Anything Star Wars related apart from the original trilogy is utter shite.

I really hope that they give cameos of jedi/and or sith. Because unless they make really dynamic characters it'll lose the feeling of Star Wars.

It's sad that this whole "saga" is about how much money they make. Where are the compelling stories at like these below?

I wouldn't mind a show that focused on the scruffy-looking nerdherders as king as it kept the magic and wonder of the original trilogy.

Sounds to me they just need to do this old school, focus on real characters over cgi, find that next Ford, Hamill and get this done.

The technology is now an excuse, rather than an aid to telling good stories.

Please... make a show about Han Solo... the 2nd greatest Character from the series!! Next to Lord Vader of course (NOT COUNTING THE PREQUELS)

If Lucas insists on churning out prequels, he should take a look at the video trailer deallys for The Old Republic and chuck a load of cash at the designers/developers who created them. They made me love SW again, love to see a movie like that!
