Hey guys, thanks for checking out my article. I wanted to start this editorial off by stating that my plan for the future of the SWCU is the direction I personally would like to see for this franchise. All of my movie and tv show ideas are relatively realistic possibilities for Disney to pursue. I'm sure there will be people who won't agree with me, but please comment and let me know how you think it actually should be. I hope you enjoy!

PHASE ONE
2015-2020

Movies

2015 - Episode 7 - There is little to be said about this movie, other than it needs to be amazing in order for any
             of this to work lol
2016 - Star Wars: Smugglers - This movie would conceptually combine both the Han Solo and Boba Fett origin
stories, including Lando and Chewie's. It'd be smart to have the Empire feature heavily, with a
sizeable cameo from Darth Vader too. It'd be structured as a one-off, with no sequels needed.
2017 - Episode 8
2018 - Star Wars: Kenobi -
This film would definitely take place inbetween the PT and the OT. Ewan McGregor
would reprise his role, as well as Liam Neeson via force ghost. Obi-Wan would go through some trials
and tribulations throughout the film, which is why he would call upon Qui-Gon.
2019 - Episode 9 - By the end of this trilogy, I'd hope that all the jedi-in-training characters have grown and
matured to be fully fledged jedi knights ready to create a brand new jedi academy. It'd be a very
positive ending for those characters, with many adventures still ahead for them.
2020 - Star Wars: insert character name from  7-9 here -
This spin-off would feature one the most popular
characters from the sequel trilogy, and give him/her a stand alone adventure, not an origin. I'd hope
that Lupita Nyong'o's character could fit this movie.

Television

2014 - Star Wars: Rebels - I'd want this show to have a roughly 4-5 season arc (not necessarily taking place
over 5 years) and end in 2019. As for the fate of the characters and their relationship with the future
of the SWCU, it's practically impossible to speculate. For me, I'm assuming none of those characters
will have too large of an effect on the SWCU as a whole. At the most, those characters could randomly
pop up in literally any film as side characters.

PHASE TWO
2021-2023

Movies

2021 - Episode 1 remake
2022 - Episode 2 remake
2023 - Episode 3 remake -
This is where I may lose some of you . My idea would be for all three of these movies
to be filmed at the same time with a great cast and crew. I actually grew up with the prequels, but I
would love for Anakin's story to be retold including Ahsoka Tano and with a lot of character development
from The Clone Wars. Child Anakin would only be featured in the first 15 minutes or so during Episode 1.
Palpatine's character would be changed a bit too, including his relationship with the Jedi. And you can be
damned sure that Darth Maul would be survive past the first movie.

Television

2021 - Luke, Han, and Leia Animated Series - This series would take place inbetween episodes 6 and 7. It
would feature all of the crazy adventures that the trio endured throughout the 30 year gap between
films. Being able to animate young versions of the associated actors would finally make it possibe to
see the classic characters returned to true form. We could even get an animated Mara Jade! I'd
envision this series to go on for 5 or so years, ending with Luke going off into hiding.

2023 - Star Wars: Underworld - Finally, the Star Wars tv show that was way too ahead of its time. By 2023, the
difference between film and television special effects will have become comically small compared to
today's standards. I'd have the show still set in the time period it was originally intended to be, set
inbetween episodes 3 and 4. Han Solo wouldn't feature in it, but Boba could for sure. The Empire would
have a huge presence with Darth Vader appearing from time to time.

PHASE THREE
2024-2029

Movies

2024 - Star Wars: insert character name from  7-9 here - This movie would kick off phase three
by refreshing audiences to a  fan favorite sequel trilogy character (different from the other character
who had a solo film) who is a humanoid alien. This movie would be set at least 100 years after the end
of episode 9, setting up the audiences for episode 10.

2025 - Episode 10 -  This film will set up the eventual Jedi/Sith war. It would focus on the current jedi academy
as well some new faces with the character that just had a spin-off. During this time period, the jedi are
as strong as ever, and big in numbers. An exiled jedi who turned to the dark side had been raising a sith
army over the years on Korriban, and starts a war.

2027 - Episode 11 - This film would have a time skip of about 5 years. The war will be at it's worst point. By the
end of the film, the entirety of the jedi sacrifice themselves to completely wipe out the sith. A jedi
apprentice is the lone survivor of the extinction.

2029 - Episode 12 - To cap off the trilogy, the one jedi left alive in the last film takes the main stage this time
around. A few years have passed, and one day he gets a vision from one of his masters claiming that
she is still alive and must be rescued. With the help off some of the non-jedi characters of this sequel...
..sequel trilogy, they rescue her from the New Republic government who think that if jedi exist, sith
are bound to come back too. The main character accepts his destiny as the rebuilder of the jedi. But,
he also realizes that the force will forever be in a juggling act between the dark and light side,  and
that the jedi must be around to bring the balance back in their favor. This ending leaves the story with
literally an infinite amount of possibilities to go.

Television

2026 - Star Wars: Jedi Academy Animated Series - This series would take place inbetween episodes 9 and
10 and feature the elder versions of John Boyega and Daisy Ridley's characters training all new jedi.
The main characters would be both young and old. Younger versions of the jedi masters you meet in
episode 10 would be among the main characters. This would be a aimed towards to a slightly younger
audience compared to the next show.

2028 - Star Wars: The Force Wars -  This show would take place during the new Jedi/Sith war dubbed the
"The Force Wars". It would focus on the harsh realities of a war where your enemies are just as
powerful as jedi. The main character would be the jedi master who attempts to bring balance to the
force by whiping out both parties. This series will help give even more motivation for his actions than
the movies could. Other jedis during this time period would be featured, including sith main characters.
It would be a nice parallel for the Jedi Academy series since that show is much more light-hearted and
focuses on a time of peace in the galaxy. The tone of this series will be geared towards older fans.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, my plan for star wars basically ends right around 2030. I feel as if going any further past that would just be retreading old ground (assuming every film up to the point is original lol). I tried though to leave door open for more stories. Rebooting the entire series, starting from A New Hope, is probably the direction Disney will go. Let's just hope the franchise doesn't get milked into non-existence and audiences keep showing up. I hope you enjoyed this article and please let me know what you think the future of Star Wars should be.

@Hellsboy

2030 is quite the milkfest lol. But knowing Disney and knowing this franchise, I doubt they'll stop at 2020 if these movies are successful.

I don't think Star Wars needs another cinematic universe or to even be remade. Yes, the prequels are extremely flawed. But, at the end of the day, you just have to ask yourself, "do the flaws hinder my viewing experience?" That answer for me is no. Yes, I can see the MANY problems with the films (the prequels I'm talking about), but at the end of the day, they're still enjoyable.

...also I don't want to blow my money on any more Star Wars crap. I have many of the games. I have the complete saga on blu-ray. Hell, I have the FAMILY GUY trilogy

I like your ideas. The prequels likely won't be rebooted, but I'd be fine with it,

Hmmm, good effort but i don't know to be honest if Phase's are needed for a Star Was cinematic universe. I would love to see more Star Wars films as well as really good Star Wars videogames.

Can you ever have too much Star Wars.... for me yes. Spread it out, make people wait for it, and make it epic. Merchandizing is where the money is at anyways.

I think that the prequels bear being remade as much as any films, but I don't think that actually doing so makes sense any time in the near future. I also, on a related note, am not sure if it is a good idea to bring back any of the prequel actors. Granted, McGregor as Obi-Wan is the one to do that with, and I'd love to see him appear, but more as a force ghost or in a brief flashback or cameo, maybe in a films such as the "Smugglers" one that you suggest.

A big question is where the "regular installments" go after Episode 9. Do they keep moving forward, using some of the same cast members, or jump somewhere else in time?

The spin-offs are an interesting case to ponder, since they seem to clearly be doing "back stories" with younger versions (than the original actors) of Han Solo, etc.

@Wolf38

I think Disney will honestly do episodes 10-12 if 7-9 and the spin-off films are successful. To them, it'd be leaving money on the table. Sure they could do a KOTOR trilogy, but that just doesn't seem likely to me. And to be totally honest, the whole movie and tv industry will be very different by the time episode 9 is released. Who knows what cool and creative things these companies may end up doing by [frick]ing 2020 lol

I prefer the trilogies ONLY! I don't want any spin-offs.
