Bale Doesn't Care What the "F" People Think

Christian Bale explains his public apology and says that "none of that should matter a damn to anyone."

The spotlight of criticism has been aimed at Terminator Salvation star Christian Bale for his off-screen behavior on several occasions. Bale has made the news following volatile public statements and domestic disturbances. And, his Terminator Salvation set rant, rife with f-bombs, was such a popular download that the secretly-released audio, set to thumping club music, has received over 3 million views on YouTube.com (WARNING: EXPLICIT!).

Bale, initially unapologetic, eventually went on live radio to ask forgiveness for his behavior. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bale explained:

"I was being told how it had gone like wildfire, and I was worried that it could completely overwhelm the movie itself. There's so much hard work that's gone into this. We had 77 days of smooth running and four minutes of me just going way too far — and that shouldn't characterize the making of the movie. My concern was that people would unfairly judge the movie based on my bad behavior."

When asked if he was worried about what people would think of him, Bale said:

"I don't feel like I have to explain, "'Well, I'm not really like this. I'm a wonderful guy and I have a lovely smile and how can you not like me?'"

Bale also deflected questions about McG and some of the criticisms aimed at him in his characteristic manner:

"Look, all of the stuff with my behavior and what people f---ing think of McG, none of that should matter a damn to anyone. They just want a damn good movie."

Terminator Salvation opens May 21st!

I kinda like the guy, he's all about the end product, and could care less what outsiders think. He obviously cares deeply about what the fans think of his work, and puts his all into every piece of work.

"They just want a damn good movie" says it all,

I really don't see why people keep ragging McG about his past movies. Although yes, he's had his fair share of shitty flicks but all directors have, and this one looks fantastic. Really looking forward to it! Christian Bale is the man! First?

He pretty much says it all. His on-set rant has been beaten into the ground, people should have been over it a long time ago.

A lot of people think that he is an ass and I can see how he might come of as that but I think he might be one of the few real people in Hollywood. He made a mistake and apologized for it on radio without having an agent or anyone doing it for him.

clearly he is only apologizing about his rant for the sake of the movie. he could care less about what people think. i think it sucks that his awesome f-bombing of the douche even warrants an apology and possibly jeopardize the movie. if some guy came to my workplace and ruined my work, i would be pissed too. bale is a bad ass

Bale has given us some great movies and now some great laughs! I have to agree with him here. Why should he have to apologise to people it doesn't concern when he already made his piece with the 1 person it does matter to several months before. I'd be pissed off being forced into doing that!

It's refreshing to see a big name actor with talent and a spine with a realistic view of the world. Sh*t happens, all that matters is the final product (and I mean that in a philosophical sense).

I think if they ever need another Joker, they might want to contact this guy. I think he just might be able to pull it off.

I never had trouble understanding him once in the movie he was fairly clear when he was talking. In this dumb little spoof I can't understand him when he is talking but it wasn't even challenging in the actual movie. The only funny part in this is when he keeps punching Joker and Joker reacts to it.

I don't know, I thought the raspy Batman voice sounded too forced, just a little over played. He should try talking more like Adam West. (LMAO!)

Wait I dont get this, now all of a sudden people are on the "I love Bale wandwagon?" Ive said it over and over, that christian bale is a total badass, and probabaly one of the few honest actors out there. He isnt afraid of hurting your feelings, or what you think, or anyone. Shit, sorta like myself...can careless. totally respect the guy. Any guy that can defend his wife's honor because his sister and mother are harrassing him and calling her names, and asking for money at the same time in public...is a hero in my eyes.

People just like to talk shit, about good people to ruin their reputation. Terminator Salvation should be a good movie...I feel like it will be a success and have that character development....I'm just wondering how itll end? I totally see a T5 around the corner, if yall know what I mean.

Like I said before he is a freakin brat who needs the sh!t kicked out of him one good time I mean how the hell do you beat up your mom and sister? Then blow up for no freakin reason? He is odviously too full of himself I bet he sits around and sniffs his own farts!

I like the guy especially for getin nuts on that damned lighting technician.... Fukker haddit comin in as far as i'm concerned.... his mom well thats another story.... my thought is .Bale may be what is commonly referred to as a "sociopath" iffin yer catchin my drift, and i'ma thinkin you do.

I honestly respect Bale even more for having come out and said this. I kind of have an "It is what it is." outlook on life itself... And I really get annoyed when people let Bale's outburst hinder their perspective on his performances. Just because someone has a moment of being a GIANT dick, which we all have, shouldn't warrant a boycott of all their work. I applaud Bale's saying "Look, so i blew up... let the movie speak for itself." Which I hope everyone gets over themselves and at least go see the movie as they were originally planning to do anyways. If the movie sucks, then I will expect a lot of ripping on Bale.

In the end I think that if the movie does suck it's probably because of bad writing and not Bale's performance (though I do agree with most people that say that Bale's over the top Batman rage voice was a bit much.) I still think Bale is a great actor and still has a great career ahead of him. I'll be there at the midnight showing no questions asked and I hope you all do the same.

This is Pockets and I approve this comment

"They just want a damn good movie". YEAHHH! i mean, what useful thing for us would be, that he and Mcg were a couple of innocent angels IF THE MOVIE was sh"## ??

So, as he said, if TSalvation is badass.. he can yell the f"#$ out of his neighbors if he wants to haha!

I still think he takes himself way too seriously, and i DONT condone that psychotic rant in any way, i just respect him for sticking to his guns..even if his mothers face was on the end of them! But seriously, IF he did raise his hand to his own mother in any way shape or form then he is the lowest form of humanity, festering at the bottom of a scum swamp and will most likely burn in Hell..if there is one! Anyone care to disagree with me? Any mommy basher out there?

Still a damn good actor though
SirJediFrank
SirJediFrank - 5/20/2009, 11:23 AM
Ror _ agree. But remember it is not that clear what happened in London with his mom and sister...
..
it is funny everybody including Bale, talk about the fu#"$ issue with the DoP in the movie, BUT NO ONE talks about that episode you mentioned, the slap-in-the-face-thing-in-London issue.. which is 1000 TIMES WORST!

I like that he ask forgiveness and then he shoots out a

"Look, all of the stuff with my behavior and what people f---ing think of McG, none of that should matter a damn to anyone. They just want a damn good movie."

But I couldn't care less of the dude's persona, as long as he makes a F--ing good movie XD
