James Cameron Confirms Edward Furlong Will Return As John Connor In TERMINATOR: DARK FATE

The Terminator: Dark Fate panel has just gotten underway in San Diego, and we already have a pretty major piece of news as producer James Cameron has just confirmed Edward Furlong will indeed reprise the role of John Connor.

He joins fellow Terminator 2: Judgment Day co-stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who will also reprise their roles from the 1991 blockbuster, and a new cast consisting of Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna and Diego Boneta.

Considering the teaser trailer seemed to imply that John Connor wouldn't have much of a role to play or may even have perished prior to the events of Dark Fate, Furlong's presence certainly adds another layer of intrigue to the highly anticipated Judgment Day follow-up.

On another note, director Tim Miller has also confirmed the film will definitely be Rated R. "It was because the fans demanded it in a way. I had a whole other plan, but the thing is, the DNA of Terminator is an R rated [frick]ing movie."

Stay tuned for more Terminator and SDCC coverage!

@Feralwookiee - Probably Ani, Furlong wasn't hated by fans in the only film he was ever in. At least to my knowledge.

@Origame - Yeah. I've read he had a pretty brutal childhood with constant taunting for his role in TPM. He's had drug and alcohol problems, and a lot of run ins with the law. Unfortunately, this seems to be quite common with a lot of these child actors.

@LongMayHeReign - Jake Lloyd was in a few other movies, like Jingle All the Way, but he basically disappeared after TPM.

Well it makes sense if you bring back Sarah then he’s cannon, I bet he gets killed in the beginning. I think they successfully changed the timeline in T2 but Skynet is inevitable and now the savior is whoever they are protecting now
