Sam Worthington has become a James Cameron whore of sorts. This summer, the dude starred in Terminator: Salvation, a tired sequel of James Cameron’s masterpiece directed by McG. Now, he’s ready to take over the world, as Cameron’s Avatar has released in theatres. Luckily for Worthington, Avatar was filmed first, or else there may have been some really awkward moments.

UGO got a chance to ask James Cameron what he thought of McG’s sequel, and the man had civil things to say.

“I think Sam Worthington is remarkable in the film because, well, I think Sam is remarkable in anything he does,” Cameron said. “I think McG did a good job in the sense. I think he was almost too referential to the mythos of the first and second film.” Cameron goes on to say that he felt that McG didn’t go far enough with the film, stating that it wasn’t “fresh” enough. But, as Cameron says, “I didn't think it was embarrassing.”

You have to love Cameron doing his best not to say terrible things. After all, the star of his epic is just starting to make the media rounds, and the last thing you want to do is piss him off. But he doesn’t cover himself well. But then again, I guess for McG, “it wasn’t embarrassing” isn’t really a backhanded compliment but outright praise.

i dont blame cameron really. i liked the film just fine but from a creator/creative perspective obviously he would have his own ideas of what should have been done. I can see how he may feel like it is still his baby. The only problem is that other parents are raising it now. So he doesnt really get much of a say. :)

Terminator:Salvation has it's problems... but I had a great time watching it in the theatre and have continued to enjoy it at home. There's bad editing and a few moments that could have used more thought. Anton Yelchin is great as Michael Beign as Kyle Reese and Sam Worthington is engaging. Bale is boring. I still want more sequels and I think McG was largely on the right track.

@SHHH

how kyle reese been younger than the son confuse you. it made sense in the movie. the film was set in 2018 so kyle reese would be a teenage while John Connor would be older.

the movie was good it was better then Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines but the script was not great at all. they should not hire John Brancato and Michael Ferris to write the script the first place.

Terminator Salvation was I dont know... FLAT it was missing something cant put my finger on it. Im not really big on the whole Terminator concept although I have watched every single one. I guess I was hoping they would recapture what they had with the first one...in my opinion they never did.

t4 was good. i just want to see them send all the robots and kyle reese back to the times of t1,t2,and t3 so the continuity is kept.then the death of john conner and the humans winning the war.

Well, its the only part of my Superman Fan Cast (find it under "Fan Fic"!) that people dont seem to like but Is till say...

Sam Worthington for Superman!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

If they're going to reboot the franchise and make it "dark" as recent reports have suggested, I think he's the right choice for the role...if they're not gonna do that then maybe not and there are probably better choices out there - I think he'd make a better Superman than Captain America anyway! ;)

3 and 4 have good action (and almost make sense), but they totally ruin the continuity of the Cameron films that said Skynet was destroyed.

Well thats a coincendence, I was just watching Terminator Salvation last night. I agree with tyko450, the plot was a little boring, mostly because of the pointlessness of it all. The T-800 factory getting destroyed was a little pointless as they are going to be made eventually.

But on the other hand, if everyone treats Terminator Salvation like the Phantom Menace which was a movie which is boring on its own but as part of a trilogy it would make sense to the overall story. My idea for the rest of the trilogy is that for Terminator 5, (set in 2029) the movie begins with John Connor explaining that even though they destroyed the first t-800 factory, Skynet began to produce T-800s in secret without the Resistance knowing about it. A year earlier they began to appear, infiltrating the human settlements, wiping them out. But thanks to the shutdown body of Marcus Wright, the Resistance have been preparing for the eventual rise of the T-800s by coming up with ways to capture them and re-program them. The movie could open with the Resistance fighting an army of t-800s which have totally replaced all earlier robots. The rest of the movie could deal with the Resistance putting their final plan into action of capturing & reprogramming as many t-800s as possible so they can lead a serious final assault on Skynet Central. Then the last half hour could deal with Skynet losing its superiority over the world but it puts it final plan into action of sending evil Arnie and Robert Patrick back to 1984 and 1994 and John sends Kyle and the re-programmed Arnie back too.

The last movie could deal with Skynet hiding in one last safe location where it is getting ready to send an army of t-1000s/t-xs back to a week after Judgement Day to kill an unprepared human race with an army of advanced robots that humanity would not be able to defeat right after Judgement Day. The Resistance attempt to stop it and succeed in finally destroying the original Skynet AI but unfortunately, ten t-1000s/t-xs succeed in jumping back in time and John Connor & a group of soldiers and re-programmed Terminators jump back in time to stop them. John and his group are killed fighting to save the human race and the movie ends in 2040 with John Connor's children leading the human race to re-build the world. I apologise for my long idea but what do you guys think?

@SHHH
Why the hell did it confuse you? Its easy, Kyle is sent back in time to 1984 to protect John's mother from a Terminator, Kyle bangs John's mother and John is conceived, it was explained in the movie

@GUNSMITH
Moon is an amazingly sexy woman but that stupid topless scene was over-exaggerated and you get to seevery little. I really dont know why the scene was filmed to begin with

And Anton Yelchin rocks in both Star Trek & Terminator, what comic book movie would he be good in? I remember reading one of you guys thought he would be good as Bob or Weasel in a Deadpool movie

@joshw24
thanks for telling me, that is an awesome idea because just think of him and Ryan Reynolds working together, it would be hilarious and even though Chekov was funny in Star Trek, it would be great to see Anton in a proper comedy role. Just imagine him going around randomly shouting Hail Hydra all the time lol But maybe leave him for a Deadpool sequel, have Weasel in the first movie, Bob in a second movie and then have a Cable & Deadpool movie, that would be pretty cool
