McG Says, "We're bringing credibility back to TERMINATOR"

The LA Times was on the set of the film in Albuquerque and shared a few tidbits today, including Governor Schwarzenegger's initial hesitation on the film.

Upon the film's near completion, McG set up a special early screening for Schwarzenegger, whose last starring role before his Sacramento adventure was "Terminator 3." The politician was not overwhelmed and told The Times: "I wasn't sure who the Terminator was. I don't know if there is one or if he's the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how strong the movie will be."

McG urged the governor to wait until the film was closer to final form. Then, just last month, the giddy politician confirmed that he had given the movie his best-possible blessing: His visage will appear on-screen, thanks to some CGI special effects.

McG predicted something similar last year in New Mexico as he pointed toward his resistance fighters: "We're going to win people over when they see what we have here. We're bringing credibility back to 'Terminator.' "

So their you have it i'm sure this movie will be a thousand times better as the 3rd suckish inatallment of the Terminator franchise. I'm sure this movie will live up to it's name as a mega-blockbuster hit.

LOL!

Saying this movie brings credibility back to the franchise is kinda like saying "Moby Dick 2: The Whale's Revenge" brings back credibility to Melville's work, or "Watchmen 2: Manhattan Returns" makes Alan Moore's masterpiece all the better.

Screw McG.

Think he was referring to the travesty that was the 3rd film.

But I still think he's a douche...

You misspelled "installment"

I love T1 and 2, but I certainly wouldn't put it up there with the classics. Movies with timelines have the unique capability of altering their story due to changing the events in the past, thus altering the future.

I agree, I think when true diehard fans of the Terminator series go to see this movie they're finally going to realize what me and my friends have realized since they started promoting the movie... We're going to see a 3 part prequal to the original trilogy!
Think about it, Anton Yelchin, the guy who plays Chekov in the new Star Trek movie, plays Kyle Reese. Reese ends up being Conner's father, who he sends back in time to rescue himself from the T-800. All of which we're going to see at the end of the movie!
I personally find it brilliant!
On top of all of that, imagine if they keep with continuity and show what happens in the future that results in all 3 of the time jumps to the past that were the first three movies... Kind of boggles the mind, huh? lol
I'm stoked, and can't wait to see if we're right.

Adamant877,
I think that we're going to see the events that you described in "T5" from everything that I've been reading, but I could be wrong. From what I understand "T5" is supposed to center around the time displacement equipment. Either way, though, you're absolutely right-- this movie should F'ing rule!

PS - Has anyone seen the most recent trailer where John Connor says to Kate "I'll be back"? I love it.

Also, I just finished reading the book Terminator Salvation: From The Ashes, the official prequel to the movie. It was pretty good and does a good job setting up the characters and giving a feel for the world which they are living in. For example, it takes into account things that we might not have considered like the fact that there are gangs throughout the cities killing each other for food and there are also mini-civilizations in old apartment buildings, etc. It also explains a little bit of the Resistance's operation, as well as Skynet's, and it explains things like why the Resistance has jets flying around, etc., since you'd think it would be very easy for Skynet to find them and take them out. It's definitely worth a read prior to seeing the movie. It's probably not necessary but it does paint a much better picture of their world and their lifestyles than what we already have so I do recommend it for any diehard fans.
