This is a review of the new prequel comic for Terminator Salvation. I have not read the comic, so therefore this is the review written by the New Straits Times.

“The Terminator prequel comic opens in 2018.(John) Connor isn't the legendary leader of the human resistance we hear from the first two Terminator movies, not et anyway.

Here, he's just a courageous soldier trying to do his part in the war against the machines.

The comic isn't about him though.

It's about other members of the resistance who are trying to co-ordinate a global strike against Skynet.

We're introduced to Elena Maric, a capable leader and friend of Connor who is trying to put together an assault in Detroit on a Skynet facility.

She's plagued by nightmares that point to something traumatic that was inflicted on her by the machines.

Meanwhile, across the ocean in Niger, Bem Aworuwa, the former lead engineer of an open-pit uranium mine, is also putting together an attack plan aimed at disabling Skynet's operations.

The story intercuts between the two teams as they try to evade death and capture Skynet's massive army of Terminators and killer machines to be able to execute their plans.

The characters are well-written. You end up caring about them and also, as the story progresses, begin to get nervous because you're not really sure who's going to survive.

Also a nice touch is showing how humans being humans, even in the face of annihilation, struggle to get along. The action is brutal. The machines are clinically ruthless in killing humans. What's good here about the action is that it's not just mindless. The way the battle sequences unfold have a very believable logic and seeing how the humans use guile and strategy to outfox the machines is cool.

I've said so before, but it's worth mentioning again that, while not in the same league as survival apocalyptic masterpieces like The Walking Dead or World War Z, the comic's off to a pretty good start.

For fans of the Terminator franchise, you can see the creative team working hard to capture that bleak, bombed-out dark future war scenario and of outnumbered, outgunned ordinary people forced to become soldiers in battling against a ferocious, scary enemy.”

The comic is published by IDW. Well it looks interesting, be sure to grab a copy when the come to a comic shop near you.

Guess the 72 dpi scanner is the most up to date one you have? Is it slanted to look artistic? The story is ok, like most tie in comics i.e. Transformers and GIJOE, and especially from IDW the whole thing is substandard. Don't waste the 3.99 a book for this wait to borrow from the library if you REALLY need to know.
