As we have all heard by now, Spider-Man has officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe! He is set to appear in Captain America: Civil War which is going to be released next year. Spidey will then get his own solo film in 2017 which will exist in the MCU. The story of the solo film should not be expected to be a continuation of the plot from Captain America 3 but instead it will take place after Civil War. It is said that it will focus on the drama that teenager Peter Parker faces each day in Midtown High and the web slinging action that Spidey ensues at night!

Spectacular Spider-Man anyone? We know the rumored title of the film is supposed to be named that but i’m talking about the animated show!



Spectacular Spider-Man is perhaps one of the best adaptations of Spidey/Peter Parker to date. It was a show that almost everyone loved and featured not one character from the Fantastic Four, X-Men, or the MCU. If Marvel and Sony takes the animated series as inspiration for the film then I can guarantee success for 3 reasons:

1. The story is fresh and unique for live action films, the general audience and the Spidey franchise.

2.The story takes place within the MCU.

3. According to the Sony hack emails, it is said that after Spider-Man features in CIVIL WAR, Sony would be allowed to use TWO major characters from the MCU. As reported about a week ago, Tony Stark/Iron Man may be one of those characters. As for the other major character, it could be another hero like Nick Fury or it could be a villain, like the Mandarin, who could lead the Sinister Six??


Too much?

If so, it could always follow after the “Kraven’s Last Hunt”  storyline as it was also mentioned in the Sony Hack emails. That would be very cool too! Moving on from his solo film he is expected to appear in Infinity War Pt. 1 and 2! From there it is said that he will have a sequel to his 2017 flick after Infinity War Pt. 2 in 2019. That tells us that we should be getting a ton of our friendly neighborhood web crawler in the next few years!

Anyone who defends the idea of the first Spider-Man movie in the MCU having Iron Man and the Sinister Six in it is a hypocrite.

We literally bitched and moaned how TASM2 did way too much and you want to have 3 more villains plus RDJ's ego in another Phrase 3 film trying to make up for the shit that was Iron Man 2 and 3?

Having Iron Man and the Sinister Six in THE FIRST SPIDER-MAN FILM SET IN THE MCU is like having the first Flash film in the DCCU that includes the Rogues and we have Plastic Man in it.

Also, hopefully Venom never shows up because [frick] Venom and Eddie Brock.

In a perfectly ideal world, the solo Spidey movie would be 100% dedicated to Peter Parker. No Iron Man, no supervillain team-up, no continuation of the events of Civil War. It'd be small-scale, personal, and self-contained.

But it's important to remember that the Iron Man stuff is just rumor at this point, the Sinister Six stuff is likely just Sony trying to throw their weight around, and we have literally no idea how Spider-Man fits in the larger plans for the MCU. We're firmly in "Wait and see" mode at this point.

When You bring Iron Man or Shield into Spidey's universe, you're treading into Ultimate Spider-man territory. I don't know how well those are handled in the comics, but the cartoon made them insufferable.

Spectacular Spider-man is proof that he's got a substantial sandbox to play in. The writers just need to go the extra mile in making that city of colorful characters & events, interesting & worthwhile.
If the next solo movie isn't one of the most character-driven cbms with an ensemble cast & a smart script, Sony/MCU aren't grasping at what made the tv show so "spectacular".

As long as they take inspiration from the ultimate comics and NOT the series, I think we'll be in for a treat.

In Brian Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man Nick Fury was a lot more asshole-ish towards Peter Parker, even outright telling him that he belongs to Shield as soon as he turns 18. In the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, the Spidey/Shield relationship has more conflict and tension and best of all... No Spider-Noob leading a team of noob-versions of Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Nova..

I actually wouldn't mind Spidey's MCU involvement being limited to a few discussions with Nick Fury, like in the Ultimate comics. As I recall, they made Fury a truly rotten guy in that series.

I'd like it if Spider-Man where just on his own with out the appearance's of other MCU heroes or even Avengers. Name dropping is fine but partnering Iron Man with Spider-Man is kind of questionable. Spider-Man can carry his own solo film and reap in the box office money so Marvel does not need to worry about failure.

To be fair i'd be fine if Tony Stark cameo'd in Spider-Man like in The Incredible Hulk

I'm good with Spider-Man taking on some villains besides his own, maybe as a opening to the film or something along those lines. Iron man however? Ehhh...

Let me tell you why Daredevil works well with Spidey.
Matt Murdock is the Hardened lawyer by day, fighting for the people done wrong, and by night he's Daredevil, hero of Hell's Kitchen, cleaning his streets. He's serious about what he does.
Peter Parker is the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He swings and beats the snot out of a few criminals, stops a robery, makes a few smartass jokes, worries about what ever melodramatic teenage or underplayed job dilemma he may have.

Matt plays the serious cop to Spidey's child like joy. In the ultimate Knights, Spiderman looked up to Daredevil and wanted to be like him, while all Matt did was try and not get him killed. In the main series, it's still the core dynamic that's like Wally and John from JLU.

Tony is an Avengers player, and when he's not he's involved in Anti Americanism, alchohal, Robotics, politics, tech, and more.
I'd rather them have Cap or Fury show up before I have Iron Man

I like the idea of Tony Stark showing up.

Peter has always looked up to Tony Stark and his scientific achievements.

Maybe he will get to meet him and everything will go from there
