As evidenced by Ryan Meinerding's concept art, it seems Spider-Man's web parachute was a feature that Marvel Studios wanted to incorporate in Spider-Man: Homecoming from the very early stages of the film's development. Indeed, this version of Spider-Man will be able to do a wide variety of things with his webbing that previous cinematic interpretations could not.

Impact webbing, parachute and hammocks are but a few of the 576 different combinations the Tony Stark designed costume is capable of creating.  Combine that with his Spider-tracer and Spider-signal and this 16-year-old version of Peter Parker just might already be the most powerful cinematic version of the character to date.
