After Iron Man takes Peter Parker's suit from him in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the web-slinger once again dons his homemade outfit to try and take down The Vulture. Adrian Toomes quickly gets the best of him, and leaves the young hero trapped beneath tons of rubble.
Mustering all the strength he has, Peter manages to lift it up and make his escape, and comic book fans will know that this was a reference to 1966's Amazing Spider-Man #33. In a story titled "The FInal Chapter," Spidey finds himself in a similar predicament, though it was Doctor Octopus - a.k.a. the Master Planner - who left him buried alive alongside a serum needed to save Aunt May.
Now, thanks to Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, we get to see how that moment from Spider-Man: Homecoming was created during pre-production.
It's a spectacular piece of artwork, and one that Meinerding provides plenty of close-up shots of. It's no secret that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is a huge Spider-Man fan, so it's no great surprise that this reboot set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe included a scene like this one.
