A Japanese version of the most recent trailer for Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse has been shared online, and it contains a few intriguing new shots from the animated sequel.

Perhaps most interestingly, we get another look at Miguel O'Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, in action, with Spider-Gwen referring to him as a "ninja vampire."

Though O'Hara isn't an actual vampire in the comics, his mutation did give him venomous fangs and claws. Will Across the Spider-Verse take the character in a slightly darker direction?

We also see a little more of the villainous Spot facing-off against Miles and Gwen right at the end.

An updated theater listing for Across the Spider-Verse seemingly confirms a run-time of 2 hours, 20 minutes, which would make the sequel one of the longest animated features of all time.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The confirmed voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Brian Tyree Henry.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be with us June 2, 2023

@PlusUltra - Yeah, probably. And I ain't mad about that as Spidey has been and always will be my favorite CB character since day one. So I'll take any GOOD Spidey content I can get, regardless of the source.

The first movie had a really nice balancing act of being Miles'story of stepping-up as a hero and saving the day, while Peter was washed-up and depressed, yet the latter was never thrown under the bus or the like to make the former look good in comparison. Here, I'm little worried that the story all the trailers are selling is "all the other Spider-Heroes are wrong and Miles has to show them how the main conflict should be solved".

I am a bit worried for this one. the first one didnt have much marketing and even fewer trailers. this seems to be putting out too many trailers and with the massive number of Spider-people involved , Miles is getting lost in there somewhere. I hope its good and even better than the first. It has the unfortunate task of exceeding the high bar set by the first. It could either be great or middling like Incredibles 2.

@Ojeet78 - Its going to be a great movie. Yeah, a little more marketing. Its weird, there is less marketing when execs aren't sure how the first movie will do. Then, when they have a gem, its all hands on deck and getting it out there as much as possible. Even though I would like to see less, I think this on in particular is going to be great!

@Ojeet78 -
Feels kinda like the opposite route they should have took with the character, was hoping the second film would be more grounded and deal with Miles effectively having an existential crisis about his destiny. After all, he knows there is a multiverse where certain events happen to each specific Spider-man, what would that do to a person if you feel like everything that makes you special or unique is replicated with others. That you are no longer alone and you have a purpose, but your purpose can be done by anyone else with those abilities. What do you/Miles bring to the table?

Instead it feels like Miles is not the focus of this, the concept of the multiverse is - the idea of Miles presumably trying to weigh the life of an individual over the group and arguably that is the anti-message of Spider-man PS4. Spider-man, whichever version of him, needs to be able to make the tough choices.

I would not be surprised if 'Across the Spider-verse' is about Miles wanting to undo the death of his Dad and doing so destroys the multiverse then he has to fix things in 'Beyond the multiverse' where he'd have to accept the death of his father to save the multiverse.

@Scarilian - yeah I have no idea if that is how it will play out but the second trailer kind of made it evident that the multiverse aspect is maybe more important than Miles. I love that Pavitr is in this and India gets some love but as far as the service to the main character goes I feel like that there are too many here. I'm also kind of over the Spider-Man and sacrifice trope. It's ruined his character arc in the comics and its going to do the same for Miles here. I love the first movie to death and think its the greatest Spidey movie ever( it did both Miles and Peter justice) hence im genuinely a bit apprehensive abt this one. Hope it does very well though and proves me wrong on all counts.

I never knew Miguel underwent that kind of transformation when he got his powers. So this is brand new info for me.

@NinnesMBC - Yeah, if you go back to the original "SM 2099" comics after he gets his powers at Alchemax he comes out of the tube with the fangs and talons (if I recall correctly), and then he has to learn how to retract them. And the talons, along with being useful as a weapon, explain how he's able to crawl on walls and such (he has them on his toes as well I believe). But he's not an actual vampire like, say, Morbius for example (who technically isn't a real vampire either, but you get my point).

Also as a fun fact (if I recall correctly): his costume is from a "Dias de la Muertas" celebration that he was at and is made of unstable molecules, so it doesn't get ripped up. It's been decades since I've read the comics, so anyone is free to correct me here, but that's what I remember.
