SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Described As A "Love Story Between Miles & Gwen"; New Image Released

Miles Morales and Gwen Stacey were just good friends in Into The Spider-Verse, but it sounds like their relationship will move into a more romantic place in upcoming sequel, Across the Spider-Verse.

Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy formed a strong bond after their adventures in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and while it was obvious that Miles had a crush on his fellow wall-crawler, Gwen seemed to feel their relationship was more platonic.

The two web-slinging heroes will team-up again for Sony Pictures' upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and it sounds like young love is going to blossom while they're busy saving the Multiverse.

“The danger with a sequel is to go bigger just for bigger’s sake,” producer Amy Pascal tells Empire. “But all the bells and whistles are no good unless you care. And the thing you’ll care about most deeply is the connection between our young Spider-heroes. This movie is a love story between Miles and Gwen.”

Check out a new image of Miles and Gwen below.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, after reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Manis catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The confirmed voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Oscar Isaac, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Jason Schwartzman, Daniel Kaluuya, Shea Whigham, Jorma Taccone, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Brian Tyree Henry.

@bobevanz @tyguy88 - the female lead in Empire didn't die, so I guess that doesn't mean Gwen will

This is the right direction to take it. The first movie had the strong familial bond with gwen as just the flirty friend. As Miles gets older, he’ll be less connected to family and more interested in relationships. Plus it seems like they are going on a multiverse spanning adventure.
