SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Sequel's Title Has Reportedly Been Revealed

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is considered by many to be the best Spider-Man film - animated or otherwise - yet, so there is understandably a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming sequel. Now, the movie's title has reportedly been revealed.

While there hasn't been an official announcement from Sony Pictures, a Linkedin listing from a CFX supervisor (via Cosmic Circus) who also worked on the first film refers to the sequel as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Not exactly a major departure from the original's title, but it's better than going with something like "Into The Spider-Verse 2," at least!

Again, this has yet to be confirmed, but if it is legit, we can probably expect Sony to make it official sooner rather than later.

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but the follow-up has been confirmed to feature many more incarnations of the wall-crawling hero. Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir, and SP//dr are expected to return, and the villain is rumored to be Johnathon Ohnn, AKA Spot. Recently, Insecure star Issa Rae was added to the cast as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman.

Sony announced that Joaquim Dos Santos (Voltron: Legendary Defender; The Legend of Korra), Kemp Powers (Soul), and Justin K. Thompson will direct. Phil Lord and Chris Miller penned the script along with David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Lord and Miller will also produce with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg.

The Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse sequel - whatever it ends up being titled -  is currently set to swing into theaters on October 7, 2022.

Maybe Miles travels to another universe. Miguel O'Hara transports Miles and others to universe 2099. It would be great to see some of Miguel's villains.

@dracula - thoroughly enjoyed the entire series of Voltron. If anything they dropped the ball the most in the last season with a bittersweet ending that didn’t mesh with the tone of the series and constantly teasing a fan favorite villain who never returned

Miles going to the different Spider-Verses or worlds is going to be such a treat. Especially visually and aesthetically it can allow the animators and directors to go all out with different tones and colors and so much more.

Essentially Spider-Man Kingdom Hearts but with a coherent plot
