Kevin Feige Reveals How Long SPIDER-MAN Will Be Part Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Fans have been worrying about Sony potentially pulling Spider-Man out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on a whim, but Kevin Feige talks here about how far into the future the deal is set, and the good news is that it looks like Peter Parker will spend a long time as a member of The Avengers...

As great as it is that Spider-Man is going to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's hard not to worry about Sony potentially changing their mind at any second, and f***ing everything up by ending their deal with Marvel. Thankfully, the two studios have more than just a handshake agreement, as Kevin Feige has now revealed that things are set in stone until at least 2019. What happens after that is unclear as we have no idea about "Phase 4" right now, but at least we're going to get a good four years of Spider-Man in The Avengers! Here's what Feige told Badass Digest in a recent interview when asked just how rock solid Marvel's Spidey plans are moving forwards:

For as forward thinking as we always try to be, there’s only so far you can tend to think, and our plan is fairly solid for those four or five years. I’ve never considered it in the Rom Spaceknight vernacular, necessarily. So much of the anxiety at Marvel has been ‘Who do we have contracts with, who is still involved’? You want to plot out all these years of imagination based on amazing comics, but you need real people to make time in their lives to do, and to make career decisions to do it. That has been the hardest thing to manage… but for the first time, that’s all settled. It’s all settled through [2019]. It’s all set. And we’re able to focus now just on [telling stories]. It’s everything we announced last October, and we’ve added your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to the mix… and it’s all set.

Also below is a new interview (via IGN) with Feige in which he talks more about Marvel's take on Spider-Man and compares the reboot to Batman Begins. What do you think of these comments?

Soooo does this mean we can all chill about the deal now, since it's pretty set in stone for a good while?

Probably not.

Seems a bit short, it's enough time for his solo film and Two Part Infinity War movie.

So wait, he apparently has the suit designed, but no actor actually signed up yet (Feige said they are still looking) now he is saying everything is all set in stone? This is so confusing.

@TheRealUltron that's a good question. Civil War starts filming in two weeks. we should hear something about casting pretty soon. That would be ideal

@HeavensWarrior- He's also very close with the Fantastic Four. Spidey doesn't always have to team up with some other hero, but seeing him in the MCU is alot better than watching Peter Parker act like an obnoxious jackass in TASM3 or a pointless Sinister Six film.

"..and compares the reboot to Batman Begins.."

As long as you only compare the reboot to BB and not have it basically be BB ala TAS-M 1.

Maybe. I hope so, but he might just be saying set in terms of deal and possible filmmakers for the project.

Goddard has to be apart of this film. His work on the first two episodes of Daredevil was beautiful. I know he'll be able to capture characteristics, morals and values when it comes to Pete.
