Andrew Garfield On The Possibility Of Returning As THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: "I Ain't Got A Call"

There's been a huge outpouring of support for The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield to reprise the role of Peter Parker, but if that is something Sony/Marvel is planning, the actor is not spilling!

This may not seem like much of a spoiler at this point, but just in case you still haven't seen Spider-Man: No Way Home yet, we will be discussing major plot details from this point on.

Andrew Garfield returned as his take on Spider-Man to swing into action alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland's versions of the webhead in No Way Home, and The Amazing Spider-Man star left such a big impression on fans that #MakeTASM3 began trending on social media shortly after the movie's release.

A "rumor" did the rounds that Sony Pictures was planning a new movie featuring Garfield's wall-crawler, and while there was no truth to this report, it is hard to believe the studio hasn't at least taken note of the huge outpouring of support.

The actor was asked outright if he'd been contacted about donning the red and blue suit again while speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and simply responded that he "ain't got the call." Garfield went on to reassure Horowitz that he's on the level, but after repeatedly denying his involvement in No Way Home prior to the movie swinging into theaters, something tells us he can't be fully trusted!

We doubt there are any plans in place to continue The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, but that doesn't mean we won't see Garfield back as the iconic hero in some capacity in the future.

@Einschlagmann - If he received an email from Sony, then it'll probably be leaked eventually.😂

@Einschlagmann - you're acting as if he isn't above just flat out lying about his involvement in upcoming projects.

I can see them aproaching him for a role in Venom 3, or a post-credits scene in Morbius.

Straight to it this time which means he’s probably telling the truth. That doesn’t mean he’s not in discussions about appearing in other projects while TASM3 could be in the very early stages of discussions just not advanced enough to talk to Andrew. Either way, I think it’s fairly clear we’ll get more of Andrew. Tobey meanwhile is where there’s more question marks. Will he want to do more and in what capacity?

Also the postponement of Morbius may not be entirely because of COVID. Audiences had an overwhelmingly positive response to Andrew in NWH. Perhaps they want to film a little something that’s more substantial than a post credit scene.

@SamaelSaint - could see them try to connect it or even firmly put it in the TASM universe. Same with Venom. Of the existing Spider-Man universes, they fit in best with TASM's

@bkmeijer - I think some simple timeline switching could work. Claim the events of Venom were all covered up so Peter never knew about it. Then the events of Venom 2 could’ve happened and then immediately after Eddie goes on holiday, him and Peter in the MCU. Peter returns to the Sony-Verse with all the Venom thing public knowledge. Morbius events taking place during Peter and Eddie’s MCU venture. Guess they could then retcon that Eddie used to live in NY and found out that Spider-Man was Peter Parker.

@SamaelSaint - didn't even think about it that much, but yeah that could work. They could also probably even go about it not even mentioning the first two Venom movies, just that Venom wants to eat Spider-Man. Only finds they come face to face, Venom ends up dissapppointed its the wrong Spider-Man

@bkmeijer - Love it. Grabs him and goes to lick the mask off to reveal Andrew. Rage ensues as Andrew gets offended that he doesn’t look tasty enough.

After constantly deying he wasn't in NWH, I actually trust him more. Thats some real dedication to not spill the beans, even though all other evidence was against him.

Anyway, even if they eventually announce TASM3 I hope Garfield also denies he isn't in that.

It was always weird that he was kind of a weak Spidey considering he’s such a great actor, but after NWH I think he’s redeemed himself as the best of the 3. Would love to see him return in the spandex, but I hope it’s in a way that still allows him to continue doing all the great work he’s proven to be capable of outside of tights.

bkmeijer2 - 1/4/2022, 6:11 PM
@tmp3 - before No Way Home he was definitely my favorite Spider-Man, but not the best Peter Parker though. So I hope he gets to improve the Peter Parker side too if given another chance
SANSHORYU
SANSHORYU - 1/4/2022, 6:05 PM
I've always thought he was the BEST Spider-Man. His Peter Parker may not be for everyone, maybe too cool or too "Ultimate Spider-Man." DOPEY is by far THE WORST SPIDER-MAN, ZERO CHARISMA as Peter or Spidey. Tom's is a good balance of a good Peter and a good Spidey. But by far.. the best Spider-Man is Andrew Garfield.
