There were lots of leaks prior to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but, surprisingly, no promo art. Most often used for merchandise, it's become commonplace for first looks at characters to leak early online thanks to this artwork, but the Spider-Man Variants were successfully kept under wraps.
Now, though, artist Rob Bennette has shared some detailed shots of the work he did on Tobey Maguire's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!
"This made my childhood self very happy," he explains in the post below. "Like many of you, I remember lining up to see these original Spider-Man movies with my family when I was just a wee lad. To think that I’d be painting this character all these years later feels like 'mission complete.'"
We can only imagine how that feels, and it's still a little hard to believe that we saw Maguire swing back into action as Spider-Man over fifteen years since he last played Peter Parker. Whether another return is planned remains to be seen (there are certainly plenty of rumours suggesting that's the case), but Spider-Man: No Way Home served as a fitting farewell either way.
There had been speculation we might see this Peter wear a completely different costume ( similar to his "Last Stand" suit), but bringing back his original look was definitely the right decision.
