SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Promo Art Reveals Closer Look At Tobey Maguire's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

Tobey Maguire returned as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and some hi-res promo art reveals a closer look at his Friendly Neighborhood wall-crawler. Is there any beating this suit?

There were lots of leaks prior to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but, surprisingly, no promo art. Most often used for merchandise, it's become commonplace for first looks at characters to leak early online thanks to this artwork, but the Spider-Man Variants were successfully kept under wraps.

Now, though, artist Rob Bennette has shared some detailed shots of the work he did on Tobey Maguire's Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man!

"This made my childhood self very happy," he explains in the post below. "Like many of you, I remember lining up to see these original Spider-Man movies with my family when I was just a wee lad. To think that I’d be painting this character all these years later feels like 'mission complete.'"

We can only imagine how that feels, and it's still a little hard to believe that we saw Maguire swing back into action as Spider-Man over fifteen years since he last played Peter Parker. Whether another return is planned remains to be seen (there are certainly plenty of rumours suggesting that's the case), but Spider-Man: No Way Home served as a fitting farewell either way.

There had been speculation we might see this Peter wear a completely different costume ( similar to his "Last Stand" suit), but bringing back his original look was definitely the right decision.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters. Check out our interview with Tom Holland here.

People online were freaking out over the tweaks in the Raimi mask cgi. I think it looked great, and that nitpicking about it is unnecessary. But what do i know

Bully Maguire is the worst thing to ever happen to meme culture.

@DrReedRichards - i think some of those memes are funny and overall pretty harmless. I think they overshadow great fan interactions that Maguire actually has though

Also, i'm pretty sure those memes that claim Jacob Batalon to be the CEO of sex are the worst and most random thing to happen to meme culture

@JFerguson - I agree about the mask CGI thing. I mean I can kinda see how it can look off to some, but I watched it twice and never really noticed until people started complaining. It’s just weird to me how people are making this such a big issue and saying that it’s unwatchable because of it or even a plothole (as if Spidey wouldnt have changed/tweaked his mask over the years). But fans are always going to nitpick i guess

@DrReedRichards - don't let him find out you said this 👀

Those Ned / Kingpin memes are a sad attempt to imitate the alleged badassery of Bully Maguire, which proves not only that they're missing the point of how far from admirable the whole thing was scriptwise, but also how laughable of a failure it was in its execution in that movie.

I agree with you on how wholesome Tobey himself actually is though, but hey -- those bullied would rather bully others themselves. Edginess sells among teens, and when you cannot prove that said teens are in fact teens and not adults like they claim to be behind their screen, you're beginning to realize how hazardous anonymity can be in molding modern cultural standards.

With all due respect, I still stand by what I said. Bully Maguire is a mistake. A sad, pathetic, and unfortunately undying mistake.

Now that's Raimi's Spidey. Too bad his mask looked nothing like that in the film.
