Spider-Man: Far From Home featured one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most jaw-dropping post-credits scenes when J.K. Simmons reprised the role of J. Jonah Jameson to reveal the wall-crawler's secret identity to the world. The character had been reimagined as an Alex Jones-like nut in charge of his own online news programme, TheDailyBugle.net, and fans loved it.
Marvel Studios doubled down on that idea in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Jameson doggedly pursued Peter Parker throughout the movie in an effort to increase his ratings (it was easy to miss, but Jonah went from hosting the show in his house to a plush studio by the time his story arc wrapped up).
Like the rest of the world, TheDailyBugle.net presenter no longer remembers who is beneath Spider-Man's mask, but he's clearly not finished trying to make the world believe that the web-slinger is a menace. Now, actor J.K. Simmons has teased his return as J. Jonah Jameson in a future project.
When Deadline pointed out to the actor that it was a shame he hadn't been more heavily featured in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home, he responded: "Hey, I think I'm gonna be in more, so...fingers crossed." That bodes well, though this hopefully isn't a reference to rumours about Jameson showing up in Morbius (which really wouldn't make sense unless he's another Variant).
One logical place to take Jameson in Spider-Man 4 would be to have him play a role in the creation of Spider-Slayers and perhaps even the Scorpion. We'll have to wait and see for now, though!
