SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star Tom Holland Talks Possible Future Team-Up With Andrew Garfield & Tobey Maguire

After meeting his fellow Peter Parkers in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland has shared his thoughts on the possibility of reuniting with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire again somewhere down the line.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is being credited with saving theaters, and while it's too soon to say whether that will earn the movie an Oscar nomination, that's the hope of many fans. Regardless of awards recognition, the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures threequel has been a critical and commercial hit, hence why star Tom Holland isn't sweating a potential nod at the Academy Awards.

"It would be a huge honor for it to be nominated for an Oscar," the actor recently admitted to Variety. "But I think I can speak on behalf of everyone at Marvel and Sony and particularly [director] Jon Watts, the fan reaction that we’ve received - the love and support - is enough."

Later in the conversation, Holland was asked about the possibility of reuniting with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire following their team-up in Spider-Man: No Way Home

"It was one of those things - it was an idea for a long time and an idea that always seemed impossible," he started. "Could it happen? Of course it could happen. We’ve done it once before. Will it happen? I don’t know." There have been plenty of rumours suggesting Sony is keen to work with Maguire and Garfield again, with some claiming they'll eventually return for Secret Wars

As beloved as Maguire's wall-crawler was, it's Garfield the vast majority of fans are hoping will make his return as Peter Parker. #MakeTASM3 continues to trend on social media, and the hope is that his Amazing Spider-Man is going to cross paths with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock/Venom at some point.

No. No more team ups. Just give them each solo movies.

More team ups will just cheapen No Way Home

@eGGtheGreat - Agree with you there, it will make this movie less special in hindsight.

Give Garfield's world an expansion with Black Cat, maybe Leto's Morbius and Hardy's Venom, give Maguire's a Father figure/mentorship role with his daughter (Mayday /Spider-Girl) and then do the symbiote arc with Holland's.

They can all co-exist.

If Sony's going to be getting into the world of streaming, they've got plenty of content right there. They don't have to flood the cinemas with 3 different Spider-men.

@eGGtheGreat - Well, one last team-up in Spider-Verse 2 would be great. Just as a cameo will do.

@UniqNo - The main reason I just can't wait for Morbius is to find out what universe it takes place in. Hopefully the movie will give a definitive answer.

@ChrisRed - Yeah. they've had more than enough time to re configure this one. and given the reception to NWH and the recently announced delay, I hope they're squeezing in a little more and trimming the fat...without overstuffing it.

I'm not much of a fan of Leto's work though, so not expecting something with a long lasting appeal.

@eGGtheGreat - Agree, Tom Holland needs his own SOLO trilogy. He can't play a sidekick or lil brother forever. His films need to start exploring the consequences of his actions and the meaning of being a responsible adult like the Andrew/Toby films did for them. Only time they should come back is when Holland is old and personally retiring from the role like Hugh Jackman did.

@mastakilla39 - personally, I'm more interested in a new solo Toby or a solo Andrew movie, than another Tom one.

It would be cool if the other Spider-Men showed up in a Secret Wars movie but other than that, I would prefer if they were given movies. Garfield in particular deserves at least one more movie to end his trilogy and tie up loose ends. If he was to clash with Hardy's Venom at some point as well that too would be awesome.

I wouldn't mind seeing those three in a movie together. Not necessarily a Spiderman movie, but, a decent heist/action flick. I thought they had great chemistry, especially Andrew & Tobey!

I hope they will also lend their voices for Across the Spider-Verse Part 2, but another live-action team-up would be great too (maybe in Secret Wars?)

I’m definitely down for more Tobey and Andrew teaming up, they had such great on screen chemistry.

Part of me would love these three to do a whole movie together and another part of me thinks it would be better just to see them show up for secret wars.

So does everyone think Secret Wars with Kang is pretty much set in stone to be the climax of the “multiverse saga”?
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 2/3/2022, 10:05 AM
@HulkisHorny - I think we could see them as two seperate things.

Kang a the villain for Avengers 5, and then a two-parter Secret Wars with Beyonder and Doom as the villains for Avengers 6 and 7 respectively.

But Secret Wars as climax of the multiverse saga? Definitely. And then we can move on to Galactus

@bkmeijer -

I’d love for them to introduce Doom but it looks like Kang would overshadow him at this point. I mean the dude is insanely powerful if we are to take Loki’s show as a foreshadow. Doom can become powerful but needs the help of some other device or power which is usually what he seeks.

I could see Kang being supposedly defeated and then doom come in and both are in secret wars.

@HulkisHorny - Doom is definitely someone who needs to be build up. Can introduce him this year already, but I wouldn't mind if he sits out Kang. He doesn't have to be a big player from the start. Think it would even to the excitement of us fans of knowing he's gonna go evil at one point, but we don't know when.

As for his endgame, I do kinda see him take Beyonder's power at the end of Secret Wars Part 1 and then go full God Emperor Doom in Part 2.

A Secret Wars movie could be awesome. Bring back Captain America for this at least and have the other Spidermen interact with our MCU heroes.

A “Spider-Men” movie focused on all three instead of Tobey & Andrew showing up for like the third act would be incredible.

I just wanna see where each one goes from NWH. Doesn’t have to be in shared movies
bobevanz

No more shared movies, enough is enough lol. If the Doctor Strange "leaked" cast is true, then the member berries might be too much for me to enjoy that movie. Nostalgia has its perks, but too much ruins it
