SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Writers On Peter Parker's New Suit And What It Might Mean For The Future

Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna have addressed the new red and blue suit donned by Peter Parker in the movie's final scene, teasing major implications moving forward...

Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with the world forgetting Peter Parker exists, and the teenager wound up making a fresh start by renting an apartment in New York City. The wall-crawler ditched his Stark Tech suit for a red and blue homemade outfit that's much more in line with the comic books.

Talking to IGN (via The Direct), writers Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna shared their thoughts on this big change for the hero. "I love that blue that they chose," McKenna said.

"I mean, it's right out of the comic books; it's amazing. No, I mean, you see a sewing machine on the table and so you know he's made his own suit; but, you know, I think everything that's implied in that to me says this is a different Peter and a different Spider-Man than we've seen before."

Sommers echoed those thoughts, but noted that it's possible Peter still has some gadgets up his sleeve. "We really like the idea of Peter moving into a new phase of his life where he doesn't necessarily have the help of a Tony Stark and all the access to all that technology and all of these things, so time will tell exactly what's in that suit," the writer explained.

"But I think people can look forward to a different kind of suit and a different level of technology, but maybe Peter's got something stashed away somewhere and it's full of gadgets. Who knows?"

While most fans would like to see Marvel Studios move away from this Spider-Man's apparent reliance on Stark Industries tech, he's pretty damn smart in his own right, and has created many enhancements and weapons over the year to help him take down those that threaten New York City. That's hopefully what Sommers is referring to here as it would definitely be more in line with the comics.

There's no word on when Spider-Man 4 will be released and, unfortunately, we're not expecting to see it for a while. Holland can always return elsewhere, though, so we could see this suit again soon.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is still playing in theaters nationwide.

Peter Parker can create a new Spider web, but nothing else. Perhaps he creates Spider web that conducts electricity in the future (Something for Miles).

Assuming his suit wont have moving eyes without Stark tech. Going oldschool, digging it.

@RokoVII - Surely he just sowed his existing eyes into his new suit?

@Chasekeane - the suit he made himself represented that hes ready to begin a new chapter of his life, no? So i dont really see him taking parts of other suits honestly.

Don't mention Tony Stark again, move on. Make him the friendly neighborhood Yada Yada that we all want him to be

Give it til halfway through the next movie before it’s damaged or something and he needs to replace it.
Hopefully it goes in the right direction.

@Stinkor1 - The suit will damage and Peter replaces it with an organic suit that regenerates itself every time it is damaged.

@Repian - And then he'll get it examined by Reed Richards when it starts acting weird and find out that - omg - it's ALIIIIVE.

@Stinkor1 - god, I hate this shiny silver suit. He looks like someone from the terracotta soldier who came alive and become spiderman-wannabe.

Never understood the hate for the Stark suits. I loved it..

The new “traditional” suit is nice as long as we have the moving eyes.

@RitoRevolto - Damn, you beat me to it! I've got my movie room all ready with leather recliners, Dolby Atmos sound, etc. Even the old-timey popcorn maker. I just need the friction' disk!! C'mon Sony, I'm jonesing like a crackhead here (insert gif of Chappelle crackhead scratching his neck here) :)

@RitoRevolto - Haha well I'm not really angry just impatient, especially since I was never able to actually see the movie in theaters. Although I've spoiled myself so much by now by reading all these articles (yeah, I know, it's my own fault) that I kind of feel like I've more or less watched it in my head already. However my head doesn't have surround sound and a beer fridge (last I checked anyway - beer, yes, beer fridge, no), so I still need to watch it in the real world ASAP ;)

I’m all for this except people responding negatively to Peter possibly having technology stashed away or him integrating technology into his suit.

He’s Peter Parker - a genius that rivals Tony Stark and Reed Richards in the comics.

He built his webshooters and created the formula.

Remember Spider-Tracers? His spider-light? Remember the suits he’s built himself in the comics like that steel suit or the Ends of the Earth suit?

Come on people - that’s who Peter is.

We can move away from Stark technology, but Peter embracing, integrating and creating gadgets and technology is absolutely part of his character.

@kg8817 - and don't forget the car he built a car or tumbler I guess that crawls on the wall and only god knows it's cringe and stupid.

I don't mind if he has some low rent gadgets, as long as he makes them. He has a bunch of little trinkets in the comics. Just no more relying on it. Get out of situations with your wits instead of Stark tech

I’m liking it because the whole ending of No Way Home shows that Peter is now on his own and has to rely on his own wits to get through tough situations. I’d think the only tech he will most likely have are his sensor deprivating eyes and webshooters like his first suit. This also sets up a reason for him to welcome the Symbiote suit because he has such a basic suit now that the symbiote will be a much needed upgrade to face a serious foe/villain.

Loved the new suit and the ending of NWH generally.

But the next time we see Spider-Man will be Tobey in Multiverse of Madness (the dream)

I thought the suit looked great. Although in action, I kept having to really squeeze my eyes to see all of its glory in action. I guess I was looking for similar to Andrew’s swinging. Where the frame slows down for a couple seconds and then pick up. Some sort of glory shot. What we got was very nice though

@Juggernaut2021 He could still have the goggles. He created them, not Tony.
