Though Sony's planned Silver and Black movie is apparently still on the studio's agenda, with the Spidey spinoff stuck in development, director Gina Prince-Bythewood (Cloak and Dagger, The Secret Life of Bees) has lined up another project.
According to THR (confirming an earlier report from Omega Underground), she'll helm a big-screen adaptation of Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez's Image comic series The Old Guard for Skydance.
For those unfamiliar with the story, here's a synopsis:
"The Old Guard focuses on a small group of soldiers, led by a woman named Andy, who are inexplicably immortal and have been working as mercenaries through the ages. The novelty of not dying long gone, the group gets a jolt in their bones when they discover the existence of a new immortal, a black woman serving in the Marines, at the same time as a nefarious organization captures their undying actions on camera."
