SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES Reviews Point To A Relatively Short, But Spectacular Next-Gen Experience

The first reviews are in for Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the PlayStation 5, and while they're overwhelmingly positive, it doesn't sound like it's the lengthiest of experiences. Read on for details...

The first reviews are in for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and they're definitely positive! There's been a huge amount of excitement surrounding the game - it's clearly the most must-have title coming to the PlayStation 5 on launch day - and Insomniac have clearly produced yet another hit for Sony.

However, the biggest takeaway appears to be that it's an amazing, but relatively short experience.

"It's high-key set piece after high-key set piece for most of its 11-hour runtime, with very little time reserved for quiet moments of reflection," reads GameSpot's review. Games Radar echoes that point, noting: "Even if you were expecting a small 'full' game, this is smaller. It plays like great DLC, because it is great and also clearly DLC, rather than a stand-alone expansion."

Despite that, there's really nothing too bad to say, with Eurogamer explaining, "Spider-Man: Miles Morales' message of hope feels like the right sentiment for this very moment. It's escapism with a social conscience, a timely, tremendous thing right now. Insomniac's second crack at Spider-Man retains the breathless energy of the original, but ends up a lot like Miles Morales himself - still fresh on its feet, a little awkward in places, but steadily growing into itself."

The Sixth Axis sums up their review with a mostly positive, "Spider-Man: Miles Morales feels like more of a sequel than it is a stopgap, entangling players within its web of cleverly refined mechanics while delivering some familiar web-slinging thrills. A heroic technical showcase for PS5 owners picking up their consoles on day one, this meaty side story in the Spider-Man saga has us even more excited than before to see what Insomniac Games have planned next."

That gives you a good idea of what to expect, but there are plenty of other reviews out there from a wide variety of sites doing the rounds (Digital Spy, for example, says: "Miles Morales is a brilliant follow-up to a fantastic PlayStation-exclusive franchise that will likely tempt over many gamers on the fence to buy the PS5, just so they can experience this wondrous story").

We'll keep you updated on Spider-Man: Miles Morales over the coming weeks, but be sure to let us know what you make of this first batch of reviews in the comments section below!

@BlackBeltJones - So much for a full fledged launch title and believing in "generations".

I’m still excited. It is uncharted lost legacy equivalent I don’t know what y’all were expecting. It had a short development time too 🤦‍♂️

@PantherKing - I just know how frustrated I am going o be when I beat this and immediately WANT MORE. It always hurts when you play something like this and it ends so abruptly.

I really wanna get this, but it will have to be on PS4, downgrade and all, a PS5 is just not possible for me right now.

lel, we f*cking knew it.
It was always a pseudo-DLC ind disguise, lads.

It actually looks great but yeah, i wont bother, i'm fine with my old Spidey game and i'll wait for the sequel and watch the gameplay of this one like a complete loser just to keep up with the overall story. :3

@Doomsday8888 - Idk why people didn't wanna realize that this was a very likely possibility. It's okay if you're not 100% on board with everything PlayStation does lmao.

@Doomsday8888 - I mean they literally said it was the size of Uncharted Lost Legacy which was obviously shorter than U4 and was literally a pre release dlc for U4 that was later released as a stand alone.

Don't see where it was in disguise but ok!

Ehh, I’d rather have an insanely fun looking game like this than something overlong but with clunky gameplay. Might wait until it’s on sale now, but I’m definitely getting it.
Also... today was a great day :)

¿How is 11-hours small? That's a normal decent size for any game that's not an RPG.

@8thDoctor - Because iys in comparison to the first game/Lost Legacy.. and from what we’ve been seeing, it might be a little shorter than the latter

The story length is REALLY disappointing, but I'm still excited for it.

(Yes, I recognise how every comment like this sounds)

So how much is this? £20? That's how much DLC costs.

I wouldn't mind getting PS5 with Demon Souls.
