SPIDER-MAN Star Yuri Lowenthal Reacts To Tom Holland And NO WAY HOME Borrowing His Spidey's Moves (Exclusive)

Tom Holland praised the Spider-Man video game while promoting No Way Home and even borrowed some of that web-slinger's moves. Now, the voice of Insomniac's Peter Parker, Yuri Lowenthal, has responded...

Doing the rounds to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home, star Tom Holland shared plenty of praise for Sony's 2018 video game. The actor even confirmed that his wall-crawler had borrowed some moves from the hit title, something we saw for ourselves when his Peter Parker faced the Green Goblin.

An amazing Easter Egg for fans, it was a delight to watch Spider-Man receive some big screen love, especially when star Yuri Lowenthal is both a self-confessed Spidey fan and the perfect actor to bring the hero to life on consoles.

Last week, we caught up with Yuri to discuss his role as Mon El in Legion of Super-Heroes. You'll have to check back on Thursday for the full interview, and while we had the prolific actor on the phone, we asked for his reaction to the way Spider-Man: No Way Home paid homage to the game.

"Being such a huge comic book and Spider-Man fan from way back, it seems like a dream," Lowenthal tells us. "Our Spider-Man is so well-regarded across the Spider-Verse if you will, right into the cinematic universe. A lot of the things they went ahead and made canon in the comic books. Spider-Cop, not being the least!"

"I loved hearing that it inspired, not only fans of the character, but people who are also creating the character and this burgeoning Spider-Man mythology which has obviously been boiling for many years."

"It’s nice to have an ownership over a Spider-Man. My office is filled with the Advanced Suit Spider-Man toys," he concluded. "I can’t believe I got to leave a mark on that and to continue being part of it is still…I still can’t believe it’s true."

How heartwarming is that?

Spider-Man has certainly been every bit as respectful to the movies, not only bringing all of Holland's costumes into the title, but those worn by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as well. We're hoping they'll be part of the upcoming sequel as well, though we're sure Insomniac Games have some very exciting new ideas for unlockable suits.

As for the MCU's webbed wonder, Spider-Man 4 is still thought to be on the way, with The Kingpin rumoured as the movie's big bad. Perhaps that instalment will take some inspiration from Spider-Man's opening battle with Wilson Fisk?

Legion of Super-Heroes is set to be released on February 7.

A great MCU Spidey lifts all Spidey boats. Movies, animation, games, comics, etc.

Sony will never let Spidey go, but if they ever go insane & drop the MCU deal, we should storm the castle & BBQ them slowly, then leave their smoking bodies as carrion.

Wish MCU Spidey was actually PS Spidey-tier good, but alas...they were always too busy making sure everybody knew that this spidey was set in the f*cking MCU...

@Doomsday8888 - Unpopular opinion: PS Spidey was almost lifted from Andrew Garfields' Spidey.

@hazapez - Very true. But Spidey took that torch and went swinging with it. Both are amazing games... I will give an honorable mention to Playstation 2 Spider-Man 2 and even the Wolverine origins game which was way better than it had any business being.

Spidey Game is Goated. But I also felt that Arkaham Combat as Batman was slightly more fluid due to the fact that there is less jolting re; using webs in combat.

All good Superhero games deserve their flowers.
Hope we can get a quality Superman game one of these days. The basics are there with Spidey traversal mechanics and open world. He can even be a younger Superman; maybe he isn't exactly hyper sonic yet.

Doesn't even have to be open world to start....Maybe he's captured on Warworld, or by Mxy in the 5th Dimension and he's got a labrinyth to escape.
GOW fight mechanics mixed with Spidey traversal would be well repurposed as a Superman.

@TheDarkLastSonKnight - Ah yes. What's to be done with Superman.

I have thought about it a bit. The man is cursed for video games. Although I have to give slight credit to the Superman Returns game. Not perfect, very repetitive, and the graphics were bad even for that time, but parts of the flying felt legit. I think if they find a way to innovate on that and bring it next level it could be cool. Also with his speed, it made an already small and lifeless city even smaller.

The problem is the world. Batman feels like Batman in the Arkham games. He's a fighter. He's a detective. He's mastered stealth. He has gadgets. He glides. He drives. He grapple hooks. It all works perfectly.

Spider-Man swings, he fights, he goes stealthy, he webs up enemies. He has gadgets. The buildings are his source for traversal. Perfect mechanic to literally tie the city in with the hero. The same with Batman's grapple hook and the buildings. It all works perfectly.

But what about Superman? He flies, has X-ray vision, super speed, super strength, ice breath, laser eyes. He can literally fly to other planets. You would think that would be a dream to play... but a nightmare to work on.

In order to make it fun, the game has to have quite possibly the biggest open world imaginable. I mean, Metropolis would have to be as big as NYC on Google Maps, or Flight Simulator.

I think for a superman "world" to work, the "world" has to be HUGE and have destructible environments. You should have the ability to explore not just our planet, but others too. Also, if your power gets low from either Krytonite exposure or something else you need to be able to fly right up to the sun and recharge.

Worlds are getting bigger when you think of games like No Man's Sky which is procedurally generated. That's the only way to make a proper Superman game and not have it be boring and repetitive over a small amount of time.
