Marvel has debuted a new story trailer for the upcoming PS4 exclusive Spider-Man video game, and it promises an action-packed adventure featuring everyone's favourite wall-crawler.

It looks like the plot will focus on Peter Parker thinking about hanging up his costume for good until Mr. Negative forces him to come out of retirement and don the iconic red 'n blue outfit again.

Not that Negative will be the only villain Spidey will have to contend with, as the footage also confirms appearances from Kingpin and Shocker. Plus, it seems Miles Morales will show up - though he's only glimpsed out of costume here.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. Spider-Man is set to hit shelves next year.

This looks really good. The story seems really interesting and I love the use of a relatively unknown Spidey villain.

@BlackBeltJones - Yeah, but Mr. Negative is soooooooo lame though, and Slott has been forcing him down our throats since 2008.

@ShellHead - get one! IMO it’s the best console ever made (thus far). The number of quality exclusives is staggering

@PicolasCage - Best console ever made was the PS2 get it right. Nothing will ever beat the amount of quality titles the PS2 had. PS4 and Xbox One aren't even better than PS3 and 360.

@PicolasCage - "Best console ever made"
That's the SNES. The PS4 has a ton of great exclusive but none of them are western made.
As in, only persona 5, nier, ni-oh and yakuza 0 make it worth buying.

@Melkac - A) why does East- vs West-developed games matter? A good game is a good game.

B) that’s just not true anyways. Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Until Dawn, etc. are all western developed exclusives that were critical darlings. Not to mention that the highly anticipated ones coming up (Last of Us pt II, Days Gone, Spider-Aman, Detroit: Become Human, God of War) are all western made

@UrbanTheEmcee - Xbox One sucks donkey dick, and is probably among the worst 3 consoles ever made.

PS4 is definitely better than both PS3 and PS2. I loved PS2 but the hardware was unreliable and prone to breaking. PS3 was also good, but most of those exclusives have been ported to PS4 now anyways

@PicolasCage - I never had a PS2 break and I Had 6 of them. 2 Fat ones and 4 slims. We literally had one in every room but the bathroom and 2 at my grandparents house by the time PS3 came out.

@Ha1frican - weird, my original broke and then the replacement also spazzed out. Maybe I was just unlucky, but that was the one of two consoles I’ve ever had technical issues with (the other being my 360 which got the red rings once)

@PicolasCage - I never had a 360 break but i also didnt get one until after the S model came out. That thing was a jet engine that you could cook an egg on but i could play BF3 for like 12 houirs ata time without it breaking so it did its job. I had a few Ps3's that had disk drive issues but after the first one they were all refurbs and got replaced for free

@Ha1frican - haha sounds like my old laptop. Not a gaming laptop, so whenever I tried to play anything for too long it would get so hot that I had to put a pad under my left wrist lol. It did the job though, so many good memories with that old thing

@PicolasCage - "Why does east vs west matter?"
Because the amount of eastern games a console gets depends entirely on the console itself and its success in Japan. The PS4 is selling like shit there, while the Switch is a huge success for example.

"That's just not true anyways"
Thank you for proving my point by mentioning just a bunch of movie games. Literally the only game you mentioned there was Spider-Man, everything else is just an interactive movie and not at all on the same level as the games I mentioned. Did you also think Horizon was on the same levell as Breath of the Wild?
Oh, I forgot Bloodborne. There's a reason it was called "the bloodborne machine" until very recently.

Also, "the hardware is prone to breaking" is a really, REALLY stupid reason to think the PS2 is better than the PS4.

@Melkac - alright, you’ve just lost all credibility with that argument. They’re games. Period. You may not like them, but they are. Sorry you get so triggered by games that don’t exactly conform to your narrow definition.

Have a nice life while I go enjoy all those amazing games I listed lol

@PicolasCage - "They're games. Period."
Yes, interactive movies are technically games in that they require input from the player, but their gameplay is very mediocre in comparison.

Could do without the QTEs. But the game looks very pretty.
