Marc Webb Reiterates Interest In Using Kraven As A Future SPIDER-MAN Villain

Marc Webb has stated in the past that Kraven was one of his favorite Spider-Man villains, but hit the jump to find out what he had to say when quizzed about which villains he would like to use

About a year ago, Marc Webb mentioned that Kraven is one of his favorite villains in the Spidey universe. He was recently asked by the guys over at comicbook.com what villain he would be most interested in that hadn't been done before and he once again mentions the villianous hunter as a possibility, "Kraven," said Webb. "Kraven, I like the idea of Kraven, The Vulture, Ock. I always thought that the idea of Mysterio was interesting. Maybe Scorpion. But really, Kraven I think is kind of interesting."

During the production of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Webb gave a very similar response forshadowing the Sinister Six (look how that turned out), so I think this is definitely something to read into. We already figured we would be getting The Vulture and Doc Ock. Scorpion is a long shot because of his similarities to lizard. Mysterio may have been teased in the credits of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, although some believe it was Chameleon. If it was Chameleon, him and Kraven couldwork in unison to take down Spidey being that they are half-brothers. I'm curious to see whether Kraven will be just a ruthless hunter, or perhaps a cross-species experiment from Oscorp using lion DNA. Regardless, I think it's safe to assume we will be seeing Kraven in the near future. Are you guys excited about this, or did The Amazing Spider-Man 2 leave you careless about what's to come?

In “The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2,” for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers. The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Also, I finally got around to watching the Director's Cut version of Watchmen. And holy f*ck is it a different movie! 10/10, would bang again.

@TheMexicanSuperman

I thought the movie alone was pretty solid and well done, but the Director's Cut is really worth the 3 hours you spend watching it.

Now I must find the Ultimate Cut.

@0bstreperous

Have you seen the film? I don't want to say if you haven't seen it. In fact I'll take it down to be fair.

@0bstreperous

I'm assuming it is, the roster still has a great chance of changing before or once the spin off film debuts but if you saw the film 3-4 of these characters are basically confirmed.

I think the guy who killed Uncle Ben in this new franchise might turn out to be someone like shocker or scorpion later.

Well to Sonys credit, at least they use other villains....pretty much almost every hero movie has different villains....not a rehash.

Well, I'm hoping that he never gets the chance. After four incompetent villains, I have no reason to believe that he has any interest in doing another one justice, let alone the caliber of Kraven. I'm guessing he'll be an Oscorp attack dog, if the established pattern is anything to go by.

To everyone who pointed it out, yes this article was already posted. I just searched through the news feed and had only now just realized. Before posting this I would like to note that I searched the Spider-Man news category five times to make sure this wasn't posted yet and I didn't see it. It's pretty amazing that multiple articles of concept art that is meaningless now makes it to the front page but an article about future villains goes no where.

My choice for Kraven is Nikolaj-Coster-Waldou (Jamie Lanister from GoT).
