Every Reason Suicide Squad Will Be Better Than Batman V. Superman

Suicide Squad (which debuts in theaters August 5th) is set for a lot of expectation that for many, Batman V. Superman did not live up to. While some DC comic fans still enjoyed “The Dark Knight” verses “The Man of Steel” in action, the majority of critics, and many other fans did not.

Some of the chief complaints suggest Batman V. Superman lacked the “fun” factor or had no sense of humor, while other complaints were of an overly complex plot line as well as several plot holes.

Personally I did not think Batman V. Superman was awful but it wasn’t everything I wanted it to be either. While I do have a feeling that the Batman V. Superman: Ultimate Cut (which includes 30 minutes of extra footage) will make the movie better, I still feel (even as I did before seeing Batman V. Superman) that Suicide Squad will be the superior movie.

The 5 Reasons Suicide Squad Will Be Better Than Batman V. Superman

1. The Cast:
The cast of Batman V. Superman was full of talented and highly praised actors and actresses. However Suicide Squad is not only full of talented actors and actresses, but the cast is full of diverse and talented actors that fit perfectly with their diverse and creatively chaotic characters.

We have Margot Robbie who will give us the first big screen debut of the beloved Harley Quinn, Jared Leto, who will give us the first rebirth of The Joker since Heath Ledger, and Will Smith who will give us the first movie adaption of the iconic Deadshot.

These are not only three of the biggest actors in Hollywood, but they also each bring a diversity and talent to the movie that is unique, different and funny in ways fans cannot wait to see mix together. Of course I won’t forget to mention the likes of Jai Courtney’s “Captain Boomerang”, Karen Fukuhara’s “Katana”, Adewale akinnuoye-agbaje’s “Killer Croc” and the many others I am running out of space to mention.

Each of these main cast members are of a different race, culture, and/or gender that will talentedly mix in a way we probably have not seen in a movie before.

Did I mention Cara Delevingne, Common and Viola Davis would also be starring in the movie? The all-star cast never ends and I cannot wait to see them in action!

2. The Characters:
It is no coincidence that a cast as diverse as this one, was chosen to represent such unique and powerful characters.

Each character has their own interesting and unique abilities and powers to the extent it is almost like they are “The Avengers” with a bunch of bad guys.

The amount of powers we will see on screen that work together (or against) each other is paramount to anything we have ever seen in the superhero genre of movies before. From Katana’s soul taking sword, to Cara Delevingne’s “Enchantress” and her witch sorcery abilities, this movie will debut powers we don’t see too often in the same movie. When has DC comics ever had this many powers in one movie?

Did I mention the characters seem really funny (even when they don’t try to be)?

3. The Trailers:

A major complaint of Batman V. Superman was the way in which the trailers basically showed the entire sequence of the movie (which other than from a couple shocking moments it basically did). The trailers showed “Doomsday”, how he was made, and when the pre-Justice League (Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman) would eventually all be friends again and team up.

On the other hand, the Suicide Squad trailers have not only beat Batman V Superman “view wise” ( as according to ScreenRant) but they have also gotten a much better reception.

To start, the music for the trailers (especially the most recent), is absolutely brilliant ( I believe the score is ‘You Don’t Own Me’ By Grace Featuring G-Eazy ).

The cinematography is also brilliant, as it shows us so much, yet doesn’t seem to show us much at all, when it comes to what exactly is going on and who the main antagonist is.

The trailers leave viewers with very little to know about what is going to happen, and what the things they are fighting even are.

Is it just me, or did the Suicide Squad trailers get better with every release like. . .
Trailer 1: 9/10 Trailer 2: 10/10 Trailer 3: 11/10?

4. David Ayer (The Director):

While Zack Snyder has some great movies under his belt, I think most would agree that David Ayer is the more credible director as he notches down classics such as 'Training Day', 'The Fast and Furious', 'S.W.A.T.', 'End of Watch' and 'Fury', (yes I know, for the first couple mentioned he was the writer, but still).

Also many sources and articles have seemed to report that Suicide Squad director David Ayer has really pushed these actors to the extreme of capturing their character. One source stated David Ayer had an on-set therapist just in case things got too rough for any actor.

Also nearly every cast member (including the ladies) got an edgy “Skwad” tattoo on their body (did I mention the cast members gave them to each other in costume? ). What other movie do you know where the director had a tattoo shop opened and the cast got real tattoos from each other for the movie?

While David Ayer does have a fluke or two like Zack Snyder, many are much more confident in his portrayal of the DC Extended Universe, than they are of Zack Snyder's.

And Last But Not Least. . .

5. The Humor:

Many reasons that fans love the Marvel movies so much is that, while they can have very serious scenarios, the movies have well formatted comic relief. While Batman V. Superman had its moments, a chief complaint was that it was too dry and not fun enough for a superhero movie.

On the other hand (despite the false rumors the movie was re-shooting for humor) you can catch the absolutely hilarious yet twisted comedy the characters seemingly have in the Suicide Squad trailers (which get better each time).

The chemistry from the trailers view seems to be absolutely perfect in the way such edgy characters (who aren’t even good guys) actually seem quite hilarious in the way they relate and interact with one another.

So with all that being said, while 'Batman V. Superman' had it’s issues, look forward to what I think will be a much more stellar and memorable performance from Suicide Squad August 5th, 2016.

good or bad is kind of secondary, what it needs to be and what I think it's aiming to be, is entertaining. Joker, Harley, they lookn entertaining. that was completely missing from BvS. the 3 best things this movie has going for it is Joker, Harley, Batman... that will be enough to generate interest, after that the movie will stand on its own as opposed to BvS which was able to ride the initial wave of the trinity on screen. and hopefully it will be good.

I can't get behind the visual style they chose for this movie. It is just so... dysmal. I get that it is about villains but they are the fun villains. I just don't understand why DC wants such a muted color palette for all their films. It just doesn't make any sense. Marvel movies look like your watching real life. DC movies (so far) feel like an art school film project.
