Man of Steel "Rotten" for Critics?

Man of Steel "Rotten" for Critics?

Is Man of Steel Already in Trouble From Critics?

According to Rotten Tomatoes' Man of Steel review page, the film has garnered 70% by "All Critics" while the "Top Critics" has garnered 54% so far.

The film's consensus has said the following: "(Man of Steel) provides enough exhilarating action and spectacle to overcome its occasional detours into generic blockbuster territory."

Now this doesn't necessarily mean much but I follow this site daily and usually when it reaches a high percentage level it only continues to decline to a certain extent. But that also doesn't mean the film's rating can't rise.

Only time will tell in the next few days that pass on what overall critics will ultimately think and whether or not this will have an impact on audiences. Although audiences seem pretty sold on the film based on what trailers and TV spots have featured. Right? Right?

Well, the negative reviews seem to be negative one the grounds that its not campy and Christopher reeves-ey (often with a line about how underrated superman returns was) and the positive reviews are extremely enthusiastic. That's pretty much exactly who I want this movie to piss off and who I want it to enthrall, so it may as well be %100 for my part.

Even though I follow Rotten Tomatoes doesn't mean I like their opinions. I do believe this will do well with audiences, despite what is being said. Just get tire from critics dogging down on films because of over-analyzing.

RT is good cause it gathers the overall reaction and feeling critics have towards a movie. I go to critics for opinions from someone else. I don't think it'll be higher than 75 cause from hat I hear, Lois and Clark's "relationship" isn't the only problem. Critics are divided on the action and they said the final act is Transformers more-less. Snyder delivers action, always could. Character just isn't his nor Goyer's strength. That's why it's not going to be as well received as people would hope, despite Nolan's name attached.

Shut up Crossbones

On topic: its too early. The film 42 was a 50 before release and a 77 after. Wait till next Monday.

How about we can agree that some people just won't enjoy the film. Just because one person likes it, doesn't mean the next has to.

These reviews are only opinions, opinions dont mean they are facts, you should judge the film for yourself.

Why should it be like the old films? It's a reboot. The old films took place in the 80s, this is the 2010s.

@FIRG

While some do prefer Metacritic over RT, MOS is sitting at 60 there. Of course, it is only based 14 reviews so far.

The reason why critics hate it is because it wasn't a Donner film. This so called critics can't move on.

What matters in the end is if you liked the movie or not. There are some films in RT that have a low rating which I love and some that have a high rating which I hate. Like I said, it's down to your personal taste. :)

Oh, and I'm going to see this later woot woot!

What I love is people scream for action, but when they get it then they hate it! Relationship wise between Lois and Clark, why is that so relevant now? That can come later in MOS 2 and or MOS 3. I NEVER listen to critics. They are like the meteorologist here in MD. Inconsistent and seldom right. This movie is for fans and I am stoked from what fans have said so far about it. Especially the ones that never liked Superman until now!

Look at the Boondocks Saints RT critics score and their fan score.

If you like the film, that's all that matters.

@Levi: don't be a prick towards someone just cause of their opinion. David Goyer (Blade trilogy (a trilogy I enjoy but it lacks substance mostly) and The Unborn) teamed up with Zack Snyder (300, Suckerpunch and Legend of the Guardians) for a Superman movie. Yeah, that almost smells like a good movie. I want to be excited but when you put those two together, you're not going to get the Superman movie you've always wanted. People give Goyer credit for The Dark Knight trilogy when he only co-wrote it. I wanna see the movie but, I'm going to remain optimistic about it and wait before I see it.

Took the words otta my mouth..DCMultiverse. I only care what I think, and some users on this site, but people wanted action and now they're complaining 'bout it having too much. As far as the lack of interaction between Lois and Clark, there's plenty of time in the sequel to get all of that out there.

I loved Watchmen and like Suckerpunch so I'm pretty confident in Synder handling Supes.

And the hell with critics
Go see what interests you

I can see someone relying on critics only if it's something you're borderline with
cbm should be something you judge for yourself if your a fan of this genre
and if you're here I'll assume you are

Agree Soto. When I was working on my JL story, I emailed him for help and advice. I still had Brainiac but looking back my beginning wasn't great and he was the one who told me its best to group the heroes in pairs in the beginning. Which is why I have GL & MM, Aquaman & WW, and Batman & Flash.

Wish he was back. This site needs more intelligent people.

This movie is going to be just fine. I would be concerned if some of the early reviews from non-critics were negative. The serious critics don't really like CBM's in general.

What I find it hysterical is Levitt acting like he is some kind of serious writer. This site could use some more mature followers, I'm not sure Levitt has any clue what real intelligence is or if he could recognize it even if it kicked him square in the teeth.

Dark, that's the nature of the beast around here. What comes around usually goes around. Loyalties run thick and it is more important who's got the biggest comic book Dick unfortunately then it is a rooting for the CBM genre
