Superman MAN OF STEEL - Erasing the memory of BATMAN RISES through IRON MAN 3

Come and see how Superman has erased the memory of Batman Dark Knight Rises using Iron Man 3 as its weapon.

I'll make this as simple as I can.

Man of Steel has not even been released yet and people are proclaiming it to be the best movie of all time, or at the very least, best movie of the year. This, despite the fact that 99% of us haven't seen it yet.

What's more... I'm reading a lot of Marvel hate. Suddenly, it seems like Marvel has no good movies. There is only DC and only Superman. It's just a given that the recent "Dark Knight" trilogy was divinely bestowed upon us.

I love Superman. He's my number one. So that's my perspective coming into this article.

There is no reason why Marvel and DC cannot co-exist. Marvel can produce good movies and DC can as well. And in the end, we all win because we get good movies. So there's no need to bash films for no reason.

Iron Man 3. Personally, I loved it. I had trouble with the Mandarin "reveal", but in the context of the trilogy, I felt it worked. What I find incredible is the amount of hatred that's being spewed against this film. It's like, according to some, Marvel dropped the ball and all of a sudden they're as bad as Fox. Have we all forgotten Green Lantern? (I so badly wanted it to be good...)
If you want to penalize the film because of the Mandarin, how about Dark Knight Rises? Bane was a puppet to Talia. Batman retired. And... there's so much more I can say about that film. But what I find incredible is that the following situation is happening:

Man of Steel looks like it will be the ultimate Superman film.

Suddenly, the "sins" of DC are forgiven and forgotten.

Iron Man 3 has a controversial twist and all of a sudden, Marvel sucks. Forget Cap (which reigns as my favorite CBM), forget Avengers and Thor. Forget all of it. Marvel seemingly sucks.

In the background, we have The Dark Knight Rises. It's just a given that it and the other two films were perfect.

I'll end with this. It's okay for both companies to have good films. This whole either DC sucks or Marvel sucks thing is stupid and petty.

Your thoughts?

Amazing. You are amazing, my friend. People on here are so unrealistic and so biased. I applaud you.

You guys are awesome. I agree completely with your statements. Well, except for TheYoungMan and his rabbit.

The whole site has become extreme. I loved Iron Man 3. It looks like I'll love Man of Steel as well. I doubt you'll see too many people making such a statement.

Superman really is their Moses... interesting. Maybe they'll give us a good Green Lantern film after this. (And a good Batman film as well.)

Yeah, I don't understand the massive hate for Iron Man 3. Sure, I've been guilty of trashing on Man of Steel but it's mostly due to my hatred towards the director.

@Levi: I praise TASM but, I still love the original trilogy.

I still say Captain America: The Winter Solider, The Wolverine or Days of Future Past will be the best superhero movie until Avengers 2 comes out.

Spot on I'm sick hearing people bash a film because they prefer the other company if all CBMs are good we are the ones who benefit. I can't wait for MOS.

@deanwilkins so true. Truth is iron man 3 twist was erasing a character. Tdkr twist simply made it that one villain was working with another( this clearly never happens in comic books) so it is wrong to compare both twists. However i agree that bashing one company because you like the other is wrong. I predict that Mos will be the best cbm this year the combination of snyder and nolan is like lucas/spielberg partnership which gave us star wars and indiana jones. Nolan story telling depth and Snyder slick visual style combined with perfect hero to showcase both means we will get something truly special.

I'm biased because I don't like Spider-Man 2? I'm pretty sure I gave my reasons why in a recent article... But oh yeah, if those reasons don't 'agree' with you, then I'm automatically biased. Silly me. If anyone's biased here, it's you. And I'll have you know, Spider-Man is an awesome movie, it's the last two that I don't agree with.

LOL, and when did I 'hate' on Sam Raimi's trilogy??? I always try to give a reasonable response or comment. So sorry if I offended you........????

Why can't I have an opinion? Why do you always call me out?

Opps, I happen to think that TASM is awesome. Call the Levi911!!!

But the biggest question is:
Why do you make every editorial about your hatred toward TASM?

IM3 was disappointing to a lot of us but I don't think anyone actually hates Marvel now because of it.

The same goes for TDKR, but these movies had to follow up arguably the greatest 2 CBM's ever.

Superman is in a much better position cause a lot of people have never even seen a great Superman movie so there was like no expectations....especially after Superman Returns.

Nice to see Superman back on top where he belongs though.

I don't see one side bing outweighed by the other.

I see just as much people saying TDKR was an apocalypse that I see people calling IM3 "Iron Crap 3". Haven't seen it yet, I think I'll wait for my sister to buy the DVD.

It' just a trend. The movie is out, lots of people like it, lots of people hate it, and then, people forget about it. Unless the movie we are talking about is called "Batman and Robin".

Bane wasn't Talia's puppet though and Batman quitting follows the character's logic from the previous movies. People don't "forgive" Green Lantern, it's just that it has nothing to do with MoS or TDK Saga.

Im3 on the other hand is the start of phase II and part of a bigger picture. After all the hate spewed on FOX and Nolan it's obvious the Mandarin Twist wouldn't be well received but that isn't what ruins the movie for me - it's many small things.

Anyways I don't see much inconsistency in that behaviour after all look at the treatment FOX and Sony have received after Spidey 3 and The Last Stand or the Avengers Hype that Marvel enjoyed

Green Lantern = fun popcorn flick with no substance and poor execution

Bane = Awesome, and not Talia's puppet her partner

Iron Man 3 = disappointing, but still a really good flick

I like pretty much all of the comic book movies that I see. I don't understand the hate of Marvel vs DC. I love Superman, Batman, Spiderman, X-men, Punisher, and a lot of others. It's stupid to have these pathetic squabbles over which is better. Box office numbers only show what was the most popular or best marketed, not what's better.

Some of my favorite films are ones that flopped at the box office. That doesn't mean that they were not as good as films that make a billion dollars.
