Dear Smallville fans,

As news and rumors swirl around the development of The Graysons for the CW, we have every intention of letting you, our fans, be the first to know the reality. Never have we been so committed to the continuing success of Smallville as we are to seasons 8 and 9. While we are extremely excited to be working hand-in-hand with Wonderland, Warner Bros. and the CW to create the origin story of Dick Grayson, it has never been intended as a replacement for Smallville, as is speculated in some media. The cast, crew, writers and producers are all working full-steam ahead on a story-line for Clark that allows for seasons of further trials and adventures for our favorite hero. As always, we all have you to thank for achieving eight years of this amazing show that Al and Miles created, and we're looking far beyond!

Brian Peterson & Kelly Souders

indeed, dont understand it atall apart from cashing in on batman without using him, every seems to be in mutual disgust over it, i just dont see the milage you could possibly get out of a pre-batman robin. Now a post-batman nightwing setting up in bludhaven with a point to prove that could be a show id rather like to watch but no lets put him in a circus and call him dj and fill the hour with faux teen dramas and oblique references to his future.

Grayson is by far my favorite comic book character, and I have to agree with Scottymagic here. I just dont see "The Graysons" working out well. I'm still going to watch it, but I dont see it really making the impact that Smallville has made. If they had Grayson moving from under the shadow of the Bat and planting himself in Bludhaven, it would make for a much better storyline.

Why this doesnt work as a series: time. The longevity of Smallville is due to the fact Clark was in his late twenties when he became Superman. This gave the show a clear ten year window to expand in, though they jumped the shark after three. [wiener], who they are going to call DJ in the show...I shit you not...was not even a teenager when he became Robin. When will this show start, his conception? Do you want to see a show about and adventurous five year old in a circus? If this kid is sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, etc when the show starts and by twenty he is Nightwing. Theres no logical timeframe in which this show CAN take place and not be a kids show. I just really think the whole thing is an awful idea.

Oh, my GOD... does this site have an automatic filter or something, because I swear it changed the name D-i-C-k to [wiener] in my post. That is beyond freakin' funny.

Damn, yeah when he's going to be able to be Superman?....lol. I don't mind there be a replacement show, but Robin? c'mon, can't we get someone one with some super powers? Why not someone like Batgirl (the new one), or Bronze Tiger, geez.

At this point, I don't care if it's 'DJ' as a kid running around in a Robin suit. At least DC is doing SOMETHING. I would prefer a Nightwing series, of course, but beggars can't be choosers. As a big fan of the DC universe, it's been hard to see all the amazing films Marvel is coming out with, and see DC sitting back and veeery slooowly thinking about maybe expanding their universe in the same way. Smallville and Nolan's Batman movies are almost all we have. So i'm fine with The Graysons, and of course i'll watch it. But then again I was all for the Aquaman series too, lol!

I agree a Nightwing "Grayson" show would be better but at the same time I'm glad to find out that this is starting just to have another show on. Who knows after they begin to write and film it may bust like Aquaman. Then Smallville will just fill the void and add whoever plays him into the Smallville show just like Hartley. I like the idea and I'm glad its not a replacement.

nerosday has a really great point. Richard Grayson (yes, i didnt say the D word because CBM has sensitive ears apparently - Just kidding-) was definitely Nightwing by the time he was twenty. My thoughts are, that they might start the show in the circus, introducing the characters. And then, the season finale, they kill off his family. And start him as Robin, just showing his trials and tribulations. Anyone else agree?

I like that idea... The only think I dont like about it would be his age... They would need a 16 year old actor to play him from say 12 to 16 years. I just think with all of that it would get turned into a Saturday morning kids show.
