SMALLVILLE Star Tom Welling On Animated Sequel Series And Allison Mack's Prison Sentence

While appearing at Fan Expo Vancouver, Smallville star Tom Welling offered an update on plans for an animated spinoff, while joking that it "might be tough to get Allison" back to voice her character.

Allison Mack's Smallville costars have remained mostly tight-lipped ever since the actress was sentenced to three years behind bars for her role in the NXIVM sex trafficking scandal, but Tom Welling (Clark Kent) has now broken his silence... with a little joke at her expense!

Welling appeared alongside Erica Durance (Lois Lane) for a panel at Fan Expo Vancouver over the weekend, and offered some updates on the Smallville animated sequel series we first heard about last June. Though the actor didn't share many new details, it sounds like Durance and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) are on board to provide the voices of their respective characters, and Kristen Kreuk (Lana Lang) and John Glover (Lionel Luther) are strong possibilities.

Welling also noted that "It might be tough to get Allison" while discussing the cast members he hopes to see return.

Skip to the 24:25 mark to hear Welling's comments.

Mack, who played Clark Kent's best friend Chloe Sullivan in all 10 seasons of Smallville, was sentenced in June 2021 after being charged with recruiting new "sex slaves" for the cult's leader, Keith Raniere.

The animated spinoff is expected to pick-up right after the events of the series finale, but it sounds like development is still in the very early stages.

I mean, with it being animated that's a good opportunity to recast. It'd be weird returning to Smallville without Chloe (though obviously we want it without Allison).

At least Michael Rosenbaum told Mack and her weird friends to do one, when they came to his house.

Lois with the "there is zoom .. too soon?" 🤣

I still call her Lois, because she will always be my Lois. Though I do love the Superman and Lois show.

Looking forward to the animated continuation of Smallville.

I'm always confused by Tom Welling, one minute he's too embarrassed to play Superman, and next he's all for it.

It's a good thing shes white, otherwise she may have gotten a real prison sentense. 3yrs for trafficking, what a joke. LOL

@billnye69 - she got a reduced sentence for cooperating in taking down Keith and the Cult.

@ElricReturns - Should of been 20yrs, knocked down from 25yrs.

@billnye69 - I think the sentence was also reduced because she was a victim too, she just got turned worse and her mental health issues fed into a Cult mentality and her own darkness. She's sick and needs help, but she was a puppet of Keith who was the real evil mastermind. I've watched a looooot of content regarding this case, probably all the content available, and it's mind blowing how [frick]ed up Keith was and his inner circle got. But you watch video of Allison while in the Cult and she's clearly not well and been kept in a [frick]ed up environment that warped her, and her mental health unraveled and was rebuilt to serve Keith.

If you get Rosenbaum as Lex it literally doesn't matter to me what else is going on. I'm in.

Shame she's such a trash human being in real life, her character was one of the more likable ones on this show.

I kinda pity her. The victims as well, obviously, but pretty sure she is one herself. Not that anything could ever excuse her actions... but we're talking about a cult here. Being susceptible to systematic indoctrination is an anunfortunate part of the human condition. This weakness is within all of us. And this should make people think.

@Drace24 - She was more of a predator than prey. She came up with ideas for torture and humiliation all on her own at one point. She took things further than Raniere did.
Drace24
Drace24 - 2/22/2022, 8:54 AM
@PartyKiller - Maybe, but she was indoctrinated into doing in the first place. That's how cults operate, which society still seems to underestimate. I'm not saying that's an excuse, but it shouldn't be forgotten either.
PartyKiller
PartyKiller - 2/23/2022, 2:31 AM
@Drace24 - She started her own thing in the cult while Raniere was off doing his thing. She sought out victims. Came up with new methods of torture, punishment and humiliation. She will later pretend she was just a victim. She will be lying.
Drace24
Drace24 - 2/23/2022, 7:12 AM
@PartyKiller - ...Again: maybe, but she was still indoctrinated. People don't wake up one day and think to themselfs "Ah, what a beautiful day! I think I'm gonna join a human trafficking sex cult. Maybe some Netflix and chill after that. I'm gonna treat myself!"
PartyKiller
PartyKiller - 2/23/2022, 10:38 AM
@Drace24 - She had a thing for Raniere and she wanted to please him. But she started her own group within his group. She thought it up herself. She was doing things Raniere didn't even know about immediately.
