It sounds like the extensive search to find the leads of Superman: Legacy may finally be coming to an end.
According to Deadline, the first round of in-person screen tests for Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane are expected to take place on Father's Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after, as DC Studios co-heads Peter Safran and James Gunn - who is also writing and directing the movie - will attempt to narrow down the shortlist.
Based on this report, our new Superman will be one of the following actors: Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet or Tom Brittney. Meanwhile, Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan and Phoebe Dynevor are in the running for Lois.
It's worth noting that the trades have got this kind of thing wrong in the past, so we don't know for certain that two of these six actors will wind up landing the respective roles.
Gunn reportedly turned in the first draft of his script before the writers' strike, but that doesn't mean the production won't be impacted going forward.
“Superman: Legacy is the true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe. Not only is Superman an iconic part of DC lore, he is also a favorite character for comic book readers, viewers of earlier movies, and fans around the world," said Gunn during the DCU slate announcement. "I can’t wait to introduce our version of Superman who audiences will be able to follow and get to know across films, movies, animation and gaming.”
Superman: Legacy is set to hit theaters in 2025.
