He's back. A hero for our millennium. And not a moment too soon, because during the five years (much longer in movie-fan years!) Superman sought his home planet, things changed on his adopted planet. Nations moved on without him. Lois Lane now has a son, a fiance and a Pulitzer for "Why the World Doesn't Need Superman." And Lex Luthor has a plan that will destroy millions - no, billions - of lives. Filmmaker Bryan Singer (X-Men) gives the world the Superman it needs, honoring the legend everyone loves while taking it in a powerful new direction. Brandon Routh proves a perfect choice to wear the hero's cape, leading a top cast that includes Kate Bosworth as Lois and Kevin Spacey as Lex. And the thrills - from a sky-grapple with a tumbling jumbo jet to a continent-convulsing showdown - redefine Wow. "I'm always around," Superman tells Lois. You'll be glad he is.

Starring: Parker Posey, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Brandon Routh
Director: Bryan Singer

Awesome concept art!!!

Missed the score in MOS, that movie lost the magic of what Superman really is.

CAVILL still owned though, liked ROUTH too!

Man of Steel > Superman Returns and all those corny old Superman movies

Costume in concept art looks perfect. That airplane rescue is the best scene in comic books movies history.

Let's just remember, things could have been much worse:
Singer wanted to use Darkseid

This movie was dogshit, nobody wanted to be a Superman after this.

Liked this movie more than Man of Steel, though I didn't really like Brandon Routh as Superman. He doesn't look very Supermanish to me.

People kinda overhype the plane rescue scene a bit too much. It was ok but not that great. The whole film was just boring.

I actually like Superman Returns. I have more "fun" with this movie than I do Man of Steel. Now, I still like Man of Steel but part of me just likes this movie more

Oh and Routh can't [frick]ing act. That was another issue I had with it.

After seeing Batman Begins I was actually looking forward to this movie and went to see it in the theater, I thought maybe it could get me interested in Superman a little more. I hated Superman for 7 years because of this boringass movie....I want my money back.

The first 2 Donner films are still the best. This movie was ok, it was shot beautifully and the flights scenes were cool. Airplane sequence was fantastic though. Had me at the edge of my seat.

Donner movies were SuperCorny, this movie was SuperBoring. Snyder finally made a lame-ass character like Superman cool.

The kid sucked in RETURNS yes and no punch but...

^ Still one of the BEST CBM teaser trailers ever made ^

With Marlon Brando voice, awesome!

We get [frick]ing Crowe walking about everywhere in MOS damn lol.

Wait, someone complained that Routh doesn't look like Superman?? That was pretty much the sole reason he was chosen to begin with! I don't think Routh was the problem with this movie.

I like what Godzillafart said though, about this being filled with 5 star scenes but still being a bad movie. It really is full of terrific, Superman scenes! It's just bogged down by an unnecessary subplot with Lois Lane and Super-kid and a lame villain with an even lamer plot.

The plane rescue scene was more heroic and Superman-esque than anything in MoS. Superman Returns, while not very action-y (and honestly, it didn't HAVE to be), at least understood it's own main character. It completely nailed what Superman stands for and what his priorities are. It's not a great movie, but it's not terrible either.

I'll take that over a so-called Superman movie filled with nothing but pointless action scenes and the illusion of being deeper than it actually is.

Man of Steel is as bad as all the Donnor ones personally speaking.

Man of Steel has three of four scenes with dialogue taken right out of the comics with Zimmer's lovely soundtrack but that doesn't prevent it from being bad. Anyways, whilst I remembering disliking SR a lot, it was so forgettable I have such a vague memory of the film.

The plane rescue was the best scene of the film magical yet gratifying

Lol, I didn't like Routh but you have got to feel bad for him. Bach when we thought MoS was going to be good, they did some Superman magazine recounting his history and all the actors that played him, even Daly and Welling, with Routh excluded.

I gotta say if Kevin Spacey couldn't give you a good Lex Luthor, you know it's time to think outside the box in regards to Jesse Eisenberg.

Plane scene > all of Man of Steel

I'm inclined to just say Returns > Man of Steel but I will settle for them being equally bad for opposite reasons.

I think it is possible Eisenberg could pull as Ledger. Granted he's always played very similar characters but at least we know he can act. All he has to do really is deepen his voice so he sounds less whiny-nerd.

MoS is the best Superman film, followed by Superman II.

Man of Steel was a much more effective illusion than Superman Returns was. That's why you get a lynch mob on your uttering such unwritten heresy lol.

Klone - 4/17/2014, 12:06 PM
In my opinion MoS is utter stupid dogshit wrapped up to look intelligent and amazing, hence I always call it a well crafted illusion. SR however had some interesting ideas but it's execution was so shitty as was it's pacing, characters, etc. and many, many other films. Equally bad films.

^ Beautiful, so wanted to see Bale & Routhy team up, would've been one of the best ever cbm's ever made!

Still, can't wait to see Batman VS Superman with CAVILL!
